ChessBookie Game

Glorious winner of one third of the 7th Annual Caissar Award for Outstanding Achievements in the Field of Username Selection (and that's official...)

"My cousin Sammy told me a true slugger - a Szeged slugger - will always swing for the fences, and that is exactly what I am going to do. I am going to knock Kramnik out of the room with my 'home run punch.' My trainer and I have been developing it in camp. I just hope Vladimir's head is screwed on tight or it may end up on top of the demonstration board!" Game Collection: Lékó - Fireless and Boring?

Are you a player desperately in search for a system against 1.e4? Don't worry, friend, help is here. Finally, an easy and solid Black repertoire is available for everybody - the ultimate Owen Defense collection is complete and finished! Game Collection: Owen Defense

SwitchingQuylthulg: It's the fault of a certain English grandmaster who occasionally kibitzes on this site... ;-)

I've had worse days than this, most spectacularly round 4 of Bilbao Grand Slam Chess Final (2008). This is a bit like stubbing one's toe on a padded door :-)

brankat: N.S.? Worse day? That was when You were some 50 Gs ahead? :-)

SwitchingQuylthulg: You must be thinking of Corus (2009), when I lost a record c$59500 in the space of 4 rounds. Yes, that was pretty bad too :-)

brankat: And Svidler wasn't even there. Nor was he in Bilbao, 2008 :-)

SwitchingQuylthulg: Svidler only ever appears to spoil everything on the very very last day of the leg... ;-)

  SwitchingQuylthulg: <Word of the Day>

<hintza: What exactly did you mean by "unphatimable"? If that is a real word I will eat my hat.>

<tpstar: <hintza> The Word of the Day is "unphatimable" which can be broken down to its root = phatim = Ebonics for a talented (phat) chessplayer who improves to IM level, colloquially shortened to "phatim." If someone can reach that level of play, they are called "phatimable" by their peers whereas someone who won't is termed "unphatimable."

Enjoy your tasty hat. ;>D>

That's a legitimate question. Tata starts on January 13, and I doubt <Bookie> wants to keep this game in limbo for a month, so I'd guess we'll finish with the Women's World Team Champs. >

Ok. Thanks. Besides, I remember Tata being in the Winter Leg.

SwitchingQuylthulg: <brankat> I did have better luck this round. I only lost 5900 chessbucks ;-)

In further good news, I'm pretty sure next round will be even better ;-)

brankat: Well, as long as You are showing some progress there is still hope :-)

I wasted only 200. It did occur to me that W-W-D was probably a very likely outcome, but I didn't like 9-1.

brankat: Just when we were finally ready to hit it big in the 6th round the Bookie decided to introduce Daily Double, and abolish P-3. A conspiracy!

brankat: I tried today the H.Hunt, the one with a bunch of fish and music notes as a clue. Didn't have much of a clue, though.

I looked at a few Fischer games (mostly against Smyslov), and some Levenfish games. No banner there :-)

SwitchingQuylthulg: <brankat> You have to use some brute force. If you'd checked every Fischer and Levenfish game you'd have won :-)
Dec-10-11
Premium Chessgames Member
brankat: I checked about 15 of Fishers games, and about 2 dozen of Levenfish's.

So, which one was it? Were You the winner?

I find this game even tougher than Pick-3 :-)

I wouldn't mind the clock, though. You could use one too, especially if it also has an alarm :-)
