18. Rhe1 is also playable here. I've been wandering aimlessly in the e5 lines and white seems to maintain about an 0.30 edge. But there are many surprises left in the line I'm sure. Plus 0.30 is OK by me out of the opening. e5 may be a hard sell but black gets to play d5 in most lines I've seen.

  whiteshark: Hi Tab!

After about 8,000 postings within the last year I think it's time for me to take a longer break (before getting completely insane).

And the last time I took a break from chess was in 1989 (when I met whiteshark-Lady) and it lasted until ... GMAN1 began.

So from then deepest of my heart wishing you well! Take care my friend.

Greetings to Martha.

I will miss your posts, I'm reading your forum but has no energy left to post there! I should have had a long break too. Next year I probably will... ;)

I have downloaded Deep Sjeng hehe will try to make it work.

Now I hope you will not disappear completely! Take a break and come back in a modest version. If you can, it's like quit smoking. With a woman in the house it's easier - Martha is dead, long live Martha! :)

Oct-24-08  Hugin:

Three passions have governed my life:
The longings for love, the search for knowledge,
And unbearable pity for the suffering of [humankind].

Love brings ecstasy and relieves loneliness.
In the union of love I have seen
In a mystic miniature the prefiguring vision
Of the heavens that saints and poets have imagined.

With equal passion I have sought knowledge.
I have wished to understand the hearts of [people].
I have wished to know why the stars shine.

Love and knowledge led upwards to the heavens,
But always pity brought me back to earth;
Cries of pain reverberated in my heart
Of children in famine, of victims tortured
And of old people left helpless.
I long to alleviate the evil, but I cannot,
And I too suffer.

This has been my life; I found it worth living.
