WGM/IM Yelena Dembo, 26 years old. FIDE rating of 2470, I live in Athens, Greece. You can find more info about me and 3 books I wrote on my personal website - www.yelenadembo.com. Their names are: "The Very Unusual Book About Chess" which deals with middlegame methods and the second one - "Conversation with a Professional Trainer - Methods of Positional Play". The 3rd book is "Play the Gruenfeld", written for Everyman, and you can buy it on www.amazon.com. I have a large collection of theory - best lines for the necessary colours with my own novelties partly published in Informants, so you dont have to choose the line you want to play from the books! The theory is not expensive and is in ChessBase/Fritz format. Let me know if you are interested. A lot of people buy it.For example, King's Indian is 60 euro. Voice LESSONS ARE NOW POSSIBLE WITH SKYPE!

Yelena Dembo: No problem, wrote them a message, should be removed shortly!
Sep-18-10  Russian Grandmasters: Hello I'm a member at chess.com and I just read a bunch of posts there about this ridiculous accusation against you.

As is the case with the vast majority of actual chess.com members, there's no doubt in my mind that you didn't do anything wrong, and the website better apologize for it too.

I read their page long explanation of how they catch "cheaters" and I don't think the measures are anywhere near accurate enough to risk accusing people. Not just you, but also any of the other members.

It's not worth the risk to people's reputations for chess.com to so strictly enforce a policy with an inadequate mechanism for determining if someone is getting extra help.

Anyways just wanted to post here in support because I really did spend a lot of time today at chess.com reading about this.

Yelena Dembo: Thank you! Lots and lots of people write on my wall on chess.com and all is in support of me. Very glad to see that. Yes, they should at least apologize. This is what I wrote to them in the message sent earlier today. Anyway, life continues!

Sep-18-10  TheTamale: <bullyboy12708> seems to have created an account on this site for the sole purpose of perpetuating the ridiculous accusation. What a nerd!
Sep-19-10  chesswizz1964: Hi Russian Grandmasters.
What methods do they use at www.chess.com to find if someone is cheating? I don't believe Yelena would do it, but surely www.chess.com would have to be certain beyond any doubt in a case such as this?
Sep-19-10  statisticsman: You are a cheater and you know it.

Many of us who are interested in such things analyzed your engine match-up OTB as well as via online chess.

Your online chess matched the engines preference nearly exactly (top 3) and your OTB?....not so much.

So sad that someone so obviously gifted at chess, would lower herself so badly.

Sep-19-10  bullyboy12708: chess.com do not boot players unless they are absolutely certain they are cheating. In a group called the Cheating Forum your stats against 2200+ players showed you matches up to Rybka 96% in your choices. How can you explain that?
Sep-19-10  chesswizz1964: Yelena is WGM. of course she matches Rybka 96%, maybe 100%. I'm going now as this is pointless. Yelena has a nice face. one of honesty, beauty & pure integrity.
Sep-19-10  bullyboy12708: Matching rybka only means she was cheating and if this was the case why doesn't her otb games match Rybka 96%??
Sep-19-10  tippington: "Lots and lots of people write on my wall on chess.com and all is in support of me." Is the truth worth so little? Try being more honest IN ALL WAYS! Anyone can read the anti-cheater comments on the WGM's wall.
Sep-19-10  bullyboy12708: I wouldn't say "all support you" lady i'd say most are shocked that someone of such high stature could do this
Sep-19-10  chesswizz1964: I joined chess.com to look and most of Yelena's games were against players rated 2100-2600. This was the ones before she was kicked from site which are 10 in a row. I still think she is innocent of any wrongdoings, even if her profile says she only lost these 10 games & none other. She won 141 and 15 were draws.
Sep-19-10  bullyboy12708: Anyone please just answer this... If she wasn't cheating why are her OTB games not of the same match up vs Rybka?
Sep-19-10  chesswizz1964: bc she has lots of time to think in cc so she make more engine moves! Duh!
Sep-19-10  chesswizz1964: Here is note from Yelena's wall.
Sounds like total bs to me:-

She had one of the highest engine match up rates of any player - far higher than any benchmarked Super GM or WC CC finalist from pre computer era. Also higher match up than many other previously banned cheats. Matching 3200 Elo Deep Rybka 3 to such an extent when out of database in many games over time isn't just about pure strength of play, but rather engine-like play.

Sep-19-10  bullyboy12708: How can you sit there and say it sounds like bs when you don't know the person posting that comment? Remind me again please what would chess.com have to gain by booting a WGM and accuse her of cheating?
Sep-19-10  bullyboy12708: And chesswhizz1964 it's more like because she didn't have Rybka sat with her when playing OTB
Sep-19-10  chesswizz1964: So what did the match with chess program look like? I can't find the detail.

Ok I admit chess.com have zero to gain by kicking a WGM, but look at her face. She a cheat no way!?!

Sep-19-10  bullyboy12708: You are now trying to say that you can judge who is a cheater by their face? That's funny. You can find the top 3 analysis in this forum: www.chess.com/groups/forumview/cheater?page=3 comments 58 and 60
Sep-19-10  statisticsman: She is cheater.

And she threatened chess.com with lawsuit for their correct identification to her as cheater.

She knows it, and everybody with a rudimentary knowledge of the top-3 method for cheating detection knows it.

Sep-19-10  bullyboy12708: Incredible you just can't own up and do the right thing can you so instead you just use your money to speak for you that's pathetic. Well anyone that believes in top 3 analysis KNOW'S you cheated and even though you may deny it to the general public you YOURSELF know you cheated

virginmind: this is very strange. i wish she will go on and sue chess.com because if she does nothing the scandal will develop further. i am very sorry to hear this and do hope to find out all was due to some sort of technical error in chess.com's method for detecting cheaters. anyway, that she is not to blame. go to court, yelena!
Sep-20-10  bullyboy12708: And have all her games analysed to show she was bashing Rybka? hmmm pathetic
