I know a lot of progress has already been made classifying games into rapid, classical, blitz, blindfold, etc., and it seems like the next logical step would simply be to have the option to filter games by format. Would this be technically feasible, and if so, is chessgames currently looking into implementing it? Thanks! |

 | | dakgootje: No. Spacebar actually is a combination of words, viz. of 'Space' and 'candy-bar' - thus 'candy-bar from space' i.e. Mars. In reality we are Marsters, even though the word has been corrupted to 'Masters'. There are no norm-requirements for the title but that you have to have eaten at least ONE (1) candy-bar at any point in your life. |

| | Domdaniel: On the search-kibitz problem: I noticed yesterday that a kibitzing search using the name of one of GM Pogonina's opponents brought up posts from the challenge game. I assumed at the time that they were visible because I was registered to play: Now I'm not so sure. |

| | OhioChessFan: You are correct, <Dom> I've meant to point that out also. Although one would have to try to access the kibitzing to make it happen, and I think it's understood the blocking of areas is to prevent accidental access, it probably shouldn't be available. |

We actually didn't know that. <No-one has noticed that before? Should I send in a correction for each game?> No--that was would be a horrible waste of time. Submit one correction, and the "notes" you can type would ideally read something like this "This game and all others for this tournament (39399) should be set to RAPID." If you don't know the tournament ID # (it's not always obvious, especially for old games) you can leave it blank and the admin will figure it out. I just fixed that particular match (99 games set to RAPID from CLASSICAL) so you don't have to submit that very correction. |

BLITZ (5 minutes per side)
RAPID (e.g. 20 minutes + 10s/move)
QUICK (e.g. 1 hour per side)
CORRESPONDENCE (days per move)
EXHIBITION (like yesterday's Carlsen vs The World, 2010 game -- regardless of time control) UNORTHODOX (e.g. Fischer Random Chess, or Morphy granting rook odds.) BLINDFOLD (One or both players cannot visually observe the board.) ANALYSIS (this game was not played by two people but is a composition or analysis) OTHER (our catch-all for anything that might possibly not fit in the above categories) |
