I prefer the "Seven Spam-urai".

|May-08-12|| ||Memethecat: Hi CG, in Opening Explorer, after a few book moves, you get the option to "search database for this position". Is it possible to do this in a general sense? i.e. load a FEN somewhere & get a list of games in that position, not necessarily tied to book moves.|
|May-08-12|| ||Memethecat: Forget last, I've found it.|
|May-09-12|| ||Blunderdome: The Sigeman & Co. Chess Tournament starts today, with Caruana, Leko, Giri, and others. Unfortunately at the moment the official site won't load, for me at least. You may want to look into it at some point.|
I guess we'll have US Champs, Capablanca Memorial, Sigeman and the World Championship all at once.
|May-09-12|| ||Tabanus: While waiting for the Anand-Gelfand match, why not kill some time by watching the exciting Sigeman live video! :)|
|May-09-12|| ||chessgames.com: <load a FEN somewhere & get a list of games in that position, not necessarily tied to book moves.> Unfortunately it can only perform this trick if it is an opening position. We have a page just for that purpose: Opening Explorer FEN Lookup.|
The only reason why it can't offer this feature in a general sense is that the processing of every single position from every single game is cost prohibitive. One day we'll hopefully be able to offer that ability.
|May-10-12|| ||chessgames.com: How about that Caruana? He plays chess at every event we've heard of (and a few we haven't) then when he finally takes a well deserved vacation, he spends it playing chess. |
Anyhow here we have it: 20th Sigeman & Co Chess Tournament (2012).

Le Quang Liem and several other 2600+ players.
|May-10-12|| ||shivasuri4: <chessgames.com>, I second <blunderdome>'s request. The following site might be the more relevant one though.
|May-10-12|| ||Blunderdome: Thanks, I just grabbed the link the 2700chess.com had up.|

The benefits of using the approved channels are numerous: it helps the admins focus on the specific posts of concern, it allows members to express their opinions anonymously, and it prevents this forum from being clogged with routine complaints.|
|May-11-12|| ||chessgames.com: Often on days like today, with high-profile chess events taking place, we get a number of emails from people who are having problems signing into their account.|
Let me say that the best way to gain access to your account is to first use our Password Recovery Page. So before all else, give that page a try.
Nevertheless, that system doesn't always work, or works too slowly to be of use. If you still have problems please write firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll help you as soon as we can. And thanks for supporting Chessgames.com!
|May-11-12|| ||Stonehenge: <CG>, I just uploaded Dabija-Bucsa, which was followed by Anand-Gelfand for 14 moves.|
|May-11-12|| ||Stonehenge: 1619 users online atm, is that a record? I can't find it in the Statistics.|
|May-11-12|| ||Stonehenge: 1682 (and counting?).|
|May-11-12|| ||Peligroso Patzer: <CG>: Thank you for bringing to my attention the "Whistle" function, on which I will need to inform myself.|
On a separate point, your live coverage page of today’s Game #1 of the WCC (Live Broadcast Page) included an “Official Site” link that connected to this page:
FWIW, I believe the actual official site is this one:
|May-11-12|| ||chessgames.com: <1619 users online atm, is that a record?> We've exceeded 2000 before and I bet we will again before the WCC is over.|
<FWIW, I believe the actual official site is this one: http://moscow2012.fide.com/en/> Actually they are both "official sites." A few weeks back the fide.com site was next to useless, while anand-gelfand.com was shaping up nicely. Now it seems their roles have reversed. Anyhow, thanks for pointing that out, we want to provide the most useful links.
|May-11-12|| ||hms123: <chessgames.com> I love the new mobile version (I have an HTC Incredible Android phone).|
|May-11-12|| ||Annie K.: <cg> mobile version is terrific! =)|
I just moved to a new apartment and won't have net access on my PC for several days yet. Heckuva time to be stuck with just an iPhone, with a WCC match going on... :(
But the new mobile-friendly look is a great help. Thanks!
|May-11-12|| ||chessgames.com: Great, we're glad to hear you like the mobile version! We were hoping on having it perfected last month and make an announcement in time for the WCC, but you know how we're forever scrambling at the last minute :) Anyhow, better late than never, right?|
For those who don't know what we're talking about, the Live Broadcast Page is now "enhanced for mobile devices" -- which means simply that if you access it from an iPhone, Android, etc. you'll get a special simplified version that is designed to look good on mobile computing platforms.
