 | | LIFE Master AJ: You said the pun's were really horrible, yet a couple made me laugh ... |

Jun-25-12
 | | LIFE Master AJ: I might also want to point out what one of my students said ... I am the only person on this site - that I am aware of - whose games have been closed, (to kibitzing); this seems to be a very special form of personal and specialized discrimination. |

 | | Sneaky: <CG> I don't know what it takes to do this, but with Natalia Pogonina tied for 1st in the Russian Higher League is there any chance of us getting an impromptu live game? Also, does anybody know when they start, like in non-Siberian time? |
 |
Jun-25-12
 | | chessgames.com: Sneaky, that sounds like a fun idea, but these http://russiachess.org/ events are very hard for us to figure out (Even with the praise-worthy help of Google Translation!) Is there in fact a live page? |

 | | Benzol: Thanks <CG>. I have updated my forum. BTW have you ever thought of including that kind of info in the Statistics Page? |

 | | PinnedPiece: <LIFE Master AJ: Any chance of re-opening my games for kibitzing, ('?') for now the trolls seem to have completely forgotten about me.> I would strongly recommend against this idea. <LMAJ> has shown deep, quick and searing antagonism to both chessgames.com and premium members. Keep his influence at bay, please.

 | | Phony Benoni: <Benzol> Number of games submitted is interesting information, and I wouldn't mind seeing where I rank (somewhere in the Top 40, hopefully). However, I wouldn't want to see it on the Statistics Page. That would turn the process into a competition and provide kibitizers an incentive to submit scads of unworthy games just to see their names in light. Perhaps the information could be shown on a page similar to the individual's Pun Submission List, available only to the kibitzer. If programming and maintenance would be relatively straightforward, there are other statistics that might be of interest as well. |

Anyway, I think these statistics include only games submitted with the PGN Upload Utility? If so, it would mean people who've e-mailed large game files to CG wouldn't get the recognition they deserve. |

 | | chessgames.com: <BTW have you ever thought of including that kind of info in the Statistics Page?> No, not just for the drawbacks already mentioned, but the only mechanism for counting is a clever combination of Unix commands. |

 | | chessgames.com: We now have the National Open (2012) that just took place in Las Vegas. |
 |
Jun-26-12
 | | chessgames.com: Also noteworthy, we uploaded Turochamp (Computer) vs Kasparov, 2012 that was just played yesterday (moves discerned from the video of the event). After some consideration we decided that we will NOT merge Turochamp (Computer) with Alan Turing, although the argument could be made. |

However, in view of <No, not just for the drawbacks already mentioned, but the only mechanism for counting is a clever combination of Unix commands.> I don't want anyone having to jump through hoops constantly just to satisfy my curiosity. Occasionally, yes, but constantly, no. :) |

 | | chessgames.com: <Jim Bartle: On the Rogoff page, Chessgames deleted a number of off-color posts.> Right. <I'm wondering, did you also delete the two posts by ... > Jim, I had to delete your comment because we are no longer going to tolerate people coming here and complaining about specific users breaking rules. If you believe they violate our guidelines you are probably correct and you can submit a Whistle complaint for our review. <By the way, I'll I did was quote Michele Bachmann, ... It was others who ran with it.> Yes, we noticed that much. Please don't think that you've fallen out of favor with us because one of your posts got deleted. Just a routine clean-up on aisle 5. |

 | | brankat: <chessgames.com> Is the Bookie on his vacations? The spring leg ended on June 18, it's been 9 days since. In the meanwhile two great tournaments took place n Russia. So many good betting opportunities wasted :-) |

 | | Annie K.: Heh!
<cg> have you overlooked the question in my last post about puns submitted during the contest stage? :) |
 |
| Jun-27-12 | | Jim Bartle: No problem. I understand the "individual complaint" policy. |
 |
Jun-27-12
 | | chessgames.com: Hi Annie, sorry I wasn't sure how to address this: <Incidentally, is there any way I can see my list of pun submissions from the contest period? I can see the list of puns I submitted later, but not those initial ones.> I don't know why you wouldn't see the initial ones, unless there's some kind of bug going on. It's obvious, but let me point out that any pun which is actually used is removed from the list, since there's no point in voting on it any more. Sometimes this happens with puns that we're planning on using in the future, too. I know I just deleted one of your puns recently, not because it scored poorly, but because we love it. I wanted to improve upon it by finding a different game, and after 30 minutes of hunting I settled on the game you picked :) |

Jun-28-12
 | | Annie K.: <cg> heheh, I just visited my Pun Submission Page, so if it's one of the more recent puns, I know which one you mean - thanks! :D But that seems to be the problem - I can currently see 3 puns on that page (minus a fourth that I notice is gone, I'll assume that's the one you mentioned), but I can't see the 90 or so puns I submitted during the contest. I know of 6 that made it to GoTD, and I may have missed a few, since I don't check the GoTD every day, and I probably don't remember every single pun I submitted, and maybe I wouldn't even recognize them if I saw them... but that should still leave 80 or so, or maybe 50 or so (minus the major clunkers). ;) The "original" list of puns disappeared from that page when the pun contest ended. So if they *are* supposed to be still listed there, then there may be a ... feature ... going on? ;s |
