| oao2102: <chessgames.com> Nevermind. I see now that this was discussed before (ie searching for a particular FEN position) and that it is currently impossible. My apologies... |

I'm not sure exactly where to post errors in the description of Tal vs Botvinnik, 1960, so I'll post them here:<No sooner did Mikhail Botvinnik regain his title, the the chess world became entranced by charismatic young Latvian named Mikhail Tal.>
should read:
<No sooner did Mikhail Botvinnik regain his title, the chess world became entranced by a charismatic young Latvian named Mikhail Tal.> <Tal won the interzonal tournament at Portoroz, then helped the Soviet Union to retain the Chess Olympiad, then went on to win the Candidates Tournament...>
would surely read better (and be more informative) as:
<Tal won the 1958 interzonal tournament at Portoroz, then helped the Soviet Union to retain the Chess Olympiad; before going on to win the 1959 Candidates Tournament...> <After 21 games, at the age of 24, Mikhail Tal became the 8th World Chess Champion.>
Tal was born in November, 1936, so he was actually 23 at the time. Perhaps it should also be mentioned that this made him the youngest world champion, until Kasparov. Cheers. |

| chessgames.com: Thanks for that. Those changes seem correct. |

| trumbull0042: I have a request for an addition on the Topalov-Kramnik page. You should add that Kramnik did NOT participate in the tournament in San Luis, even though he was invited. I think it would make the purpose of the upcoming match a little clearer to people who don't know too much about the chess world. |

| Chess Classics: <chessgames.com> <trumbull0042> Brings up a good point. Another thing is that about once every few days, someone will ask a question along the lines of "Does Topalov play Radjabov if he loses", "Does Kramnik play in Mexico City if he loses", and although I am myself guilty of this crime, perhaps it would be easier to have a little note on the page describing the details of the match. Cheers! Regards,

| positionalgenius: <chessgames.com>To the non-premium members, you may want to post a notice on the Kramnik-Topalov page about the matches official website broadcasting them live. And thanks for the "history of the world chess championship" feature. |

| monad: <chessgames.com>I wonder if you might negotiate a truce with Mr.Nickel over the three weeks of the WCC. I for one can't see myself concentrating much on our game while the Kramnik vs Topalov games are going on. (Obviously only if many others in the White team would feel the same way.) |

| ahmadov: Does chessgames.com record visitors to this web site? What is the record number of people visiting this web site in a day (week or month)? |

| trumbull0042: Dear Chessgames.com,
Have you thought about implementing technology on the website so that live games can be broadcast without having to reload the entire page? That is one of the drawbacks to following live games on this website. The experience would be much better if games could be viewed like one views them on ICC or Yahoo. Users would only need to reload the page to update kibitzing. <trumbull0042> |

| chessgames.com: <The Premium Membership sign-up page is not working.> We're terribly sorry about that, it was a human error and the problem is solved. <trumbull0042> We've considered alternate technologies. They all have their pros and cons. The HTML method has the advantage of maximum compatibility with a variety of setups (people behind firewalls, machines without java or shockwave, etc.) and also gives us great control over the page appearance. Still, there are also good arguments for different approaches. <ahmadov: Does chessgames.com record visitors to this web site? What is the record number of people visiting this web site in a day (week or month)?> A typical day for us sees 15,000 unique IP addresses. An extremely busy day may have double that. I'm not sure about records, but we're bound to set one over the next few weeks. |

| syracrophy: <chessgames.com> Sorry for the continuous disturbing, but I have a question: how much time does it take to upload a game from the uploading to the posting of the game? I mean, how much time does it takes to post a game that has been uploaded? Thanks for your help |
 |
| Sep-23-06 |
| blingice: <CG.com> I was just curious, how many people have gotten premium memberships in this last week, and how many people buy premium memberships on the average week? (Sorry if this is an invasive question, you don't have to answer...) |

| Brent Baccala: <chessgames.com>
I think you really need to look at that World vs Nickel applet (or whatever it is) carefully again. I just saw the thing saying "It is now 14:00:31" (or something like that), "Voting closes the day after tomorrow at 14:00", and... voting was still open for our tenth move! Also, do you have the final vote tallys posted anywhere? I think a bunch of us would be interested in reviewing them. |
 |
Sep-23-06
 |
| chessgames.com: <syracrophy> It can take months, but we're working on improving that. <Brent Baccala> It takes about 30 seconds to close out the old move, so for that brief time it reports incorrectly. Just pay no mind to that. <blingice> Sorry, we don't disclose that information. |
 |
Sep-23-06
 |
| chessgames.com: About posting the final vote tallies and other statistics from the Chessgames Challenge : the software doesn't save that information right now, but it should. We are planning on improving it so that this can be recorded and displayed somewhere. It would also be interesting to see how many people voted for the draw at various stages. An automated "divider" message could be posted by the system, too. When the WCC is over we will make some announcement regarding the Team vs Team game, and we should have these and other improvements ready by then. |

| Brent Baccala: <chessgames.com: When the WCC is over we will make some announcement regarding the Team vs Team game...> I don't know what you have in mind for a Team vs Team game, but it has occurred me that the World team is basically the English-speaking World team. A Spanish World Team vs English World Team game would be interesting... |
