Mir ist bewusst was Freiheit bedeutet
Mir ist bewusst was Freiheit bedeutet,
mir ist bewusst was Freiheit bedeutet.

Bio as it used to be:

<I dont have any favorite players normally, though Josef Emil Krejcik is brilliant =)

call me dakgootje, dakkie, dak, gootje or whatever you like ;-)

Lack any opening knowledge and thus improvise them quite often. well not always, i know some basic e4-openings... But i improvise on d4, sicilian, kings gambit and uhm caro kann and philidor and english etc etc etc =P but hey, i do know some of the names! =)

Improved a lot on openings lately, keep that in mind if you ever play versus me =P

There are three sides to every story-- yours, mine, and the truth

Still dont know what to studie next year but "you should view higher education as more of a matter for your self-development, rather than as training for a specific job." (quote-credits to mojo)

My forum name is actually a reference to a childrens song:

<Oh Children, hear the Geese,
its cry will make you shiver.
For yet it knows that we will feas'

Cheers ^^

NOTE: I will not accept any fights, drama, name-calling and similar in my chessforum. They will all be deleted, no exceptions and no warnings. As it seems, there are other places to do such things.

dakgootje: You can say that again :P I would've actually done swimmingly if Svidler-Karjakin had ended a draw. But that was a bit optimistic given it was some crazy game. And apparently riddled with blunders. It goes without saying this was according to our good friends the Engines - and ...

hms123: <dak> I was alluding to your most recent interchange at <deffi's> place. I was referring to this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncle_...

specifically, I meant that you should avoid people without a sense of humor or perspective.

Actually, it turns out it was Br'er Fox who "lay low". BTW, these stories are no longer politically correct.

dakgootje: <<dak> I was alluding to your most recent interchange at <deffi's> place.>

Remarkable was it not? Perchance [love the word] I offended the fellow at some point in the past and the silly CIA-remark was the last straw, who knows?!

Ah well, at least it has the positive side-effect that I've come to known some American folklore, seeing how I had not heard of Uncle Remus yet. Funny enough I was aware of Br'er Rabbit in the Disney-sense but didn't draw the conclusion :P

In any case, politically incorrectness of stories does not have to be a burden as they can give a nice look at the morals and values of that era - as long as they are true to them. Little use pretending the stories do not exist ;)

Now the only problem remains is finding a situation where I can use the expression 'tar baby'! ;D

Mar-30-10

hms123: <dak> I recommend that you not use "tar baby" in the US. The connotations are not considered polite.
Mar-30-10

dakgootje: Dear me, I only read the first part at the wikipedia-page; namely: <In modern usage, "tar baby" refers to any "sticky situation" that is only aggravated by additional contact.>

But now you said that, I see -indeed- farther on <Although the term's provenance arose in African folklore (e.g., the gum doll Anansi created to trap Mmoatia, the dwarf), some Americans now consider "tar baby" to have negative connotations revolving around negative images of African-Americans.[2] In recent years, several politicians who have publicly used the term have encountered some controversy, mocking, and censure from African-American civil rights leaders, members of the popular daily media, and other politicians.>

Absolute shame, there is given way too much importance to the avoiding of offending others even if that means one would have to lie to deny certain cultural expressions. It is a bloody disgrace how easily and willingly people feel offended and discriminated against.

But let me not ramble and rant against closed-minded persons, this is not the time and place.

<rogge> put up the links again to Susanne Sundfor at my place - and you can also download her album 'The Brothel' from TPB, I think.

Also - the travelogue and in depth docu "From Moscow to Murmansk" by Jelle Brandt Corstius really hit me in the face...

Anyhoo - better spend our time on art and enjoy and marvel at the craft and sincerity in expression like wende tries- and succeeds in- to deliver. ;)
