 | | dakgootje: <Fusilli: <dak> Did you watch a movie last night? Which one? Opinion? And today is a GTM day, isn't it?>
Ah, yes, GTM tonight! Had almost forgotten it!
I saw 'True Grit' yesterday! Very new movie from the Coen Brothers, load of Oscar nomations [and other film prizes]. Anyway, it has a good cast and I am a big fan of the Coen brothers' work [except for 'A serious man' really] -- so I obviously thought it was a great film ;) They always tend to have quite ironic films, but this one is not really. Clear emphasis on accents though - as they usually do - and good characters and acting. So all in all, I certainly liked it :) Undoubtedly one of the Oscar-worthy films of the year. Along with 'The Fighter' which I thought was great although I can't really recall <why>. Notice the Social Network has quite the chance to win though which is mind-boggling. Very average film. Maybe Facebook is a much bigger phenomenon in the USA than it is here - as I suspect people are more positive about it when it concerns a site they use [A LOT] daily. |

 | | chancho: Repo Men...saw it yesterday on HBO. Lot's of action and a surprising ending. My oldest son had already seen it before and he was smiling (like the Cheshire cat in Alice In Wonderland) when the surprise ending popped up. |

 | | dakgootje: Thanks! I shall put it on my ever-growing list! ;D |

| Jan-31-11 | | morocco mole: Thank you for the messages.
<izimbra> already said his goodbyes to his "friends" (and felt both of them), right after I dropped my note at chez <Fusilli>. So your update doesn't change much for him, though it seems a pity to meet only (less than) half of <chancho>. He still hopes everybody gets whatever help it is that they really need. I've done a lot of stock trading and there it is the same: not enough information on the table to make a "rational" decision, but the instinctive play is typically correct. Re: style - The essence of that "squirrel" link might be accurately summarized as "Duchamp does Casablanca", and the handle <izimbra> is also rooted Dadaism. Hence your ending fits from that POV. Closing title music?

 | | chancho: <dakgootje> If I understand the gist of it, I'm apparently sending secret messages to other people via music links and therefore, I need help. :-)
I only post those music links for people to listen to, if they wish.
At the Huffington Post, the posters there have what they call "music night" when we all get tired of arguing politics and we all start posting the kind of music that we like via links. (60's 70's, soul, rock, etc)...
It's all just sharing music. |

 | | dakgootje: Secret messages via music links? Are you backmasking?? Like having special versions of songs with the message "resign your CC-game with Chancho"! Groovy. |

At <Izimbra's forum> in a post directed to <Jess>:
(She was trying to understand what <Izimbra> wrote at her forum) <Izimbra:If we go one step further and talk about posting song links, we deal with a situation where there is an original creator, then a listener who relates something they think/feel to something about the song - but doesn't have control over all the other aspects that come along with it - and then uses that song as a token to communicate something to someone else and hope they can interpret it.> |

 | | dakgootje: Thanks for getting a bit more light in the matter. It's still fairly dark, but I've seen worse. Inasmuch as you can see it. Did you know that light is invisible? It's amazing, if you'd be in a totally dark place and they'd shine a light which just passes in front of your eyes, you would not see it. The word 'it' obviously presumes there is something like a 'ray' of light although perhaps the ray is only a concept. It's similar to the question what is a 'lot', is 9 alot, is 28, is 153? Think some ancient Greek philosopher once derived that way it had to be something like 21. In that case a lot would be half of the Answer to everything. Except for the question 'what is a lot?', for than the answer would be half itself ad infinitum. -- I suppose The Mole must've had one such trains of thought before decided he wanted to post at my place - he just forgot to post the train as well :D He trained in vain. Which neatly got us to a song

 | | Fusilli: Hey <dakkie>, how's it going! I still didn't get to go back to GTM, but I do think I'll watch a movie tonight, although it is likely to be a silly one. A friend who came over a few days ago dropped a bunch of movies here, and they are all light. |

True Grit ging trouwens afgelopen vrijdag in premiere in nederlandse theaters... Tks for die link ook. by by now ;) |
 |
Feb-06-11
