Boomie: I see you Nashville cats have picked up the ball of yarn and ran with it.

Who knew that a simple reference to the Loving Spoonful song would elicit such varied responses.

Perhaps the typo set people on edge and in a forum dedicated to pedagogy, the swift and terrible action was predictable.

I'm just glad I didn't spell it Nadsville.

NASHVILLE KIDS

(Refrain)
Nashville kids, play clean as country water
Nashville kids, play wild as Tal would do
Nashville kids, been playin' since they's babies
Nashville kids, get ranked before they're two

Well, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two
Pawn pushers in Nashville
And they can queen more pawns than the number of ants On a Tennessee anthill
Yeah, there's thirteen hundred and fifty two
Rollup boards in Nashville
And any one that unpacks his set could play
Twice as better than I will

Yeah, I was just thirteen, you might say I was a
Chessical proverbial knee-high
When I saw a couple new-looking lines on the nets
And they blasted me sky-high
And the trainer man said every one is a potential
titled player from Nashville
And up north there ain't nobody plays them
And I said, but I will

And it was
(Refrain)

Well, there's sixteen thousand eight hundred twenty one Mothers from Nashville
All their friends play chess, and they ain't uptight
If one of the kids will
Because it's custom made for any mother's son
To be a pawn pusher in Nashville
And I sure am glad I got a chance to say a word about The chess and the mothers from Nashville

(Refrain)

Lupara: <hms123> Greetings and thank you for the invitation.

In the last two weeks, I purchased two of the chess books you mention above in your bio, Grandmaster Chess Strategy and Invisible Chess Moves. Very good books. I knew back in the 80s that Ulf Andersson was good, but darn was he good at exploiting small advantages. He was definitely Karpovian in the best sense of that word when it came to microscopic advantages.

See you around. Salute!

hms123: <Lupara> Thanks for visiting. Andersson was good at exploiting advantages that I didn't know existed even when I went back over the games.

Also, apparently you can add this user to the list:

<DrywallRickshaw: Hi there,
I'm a long time chessgames lurker. I just wanted to say that I've always appreciated your kibitzes, especially when you've acted as the voice of reason during a Goldsby tantrum (Those tantrums are better than any sitcom to get a laugh). I also noticed you said somewhere you were a lawyer. I'm a 1L at Vandy, I was wondering if the legal market was as bad they say on all the blogs/everywhere. I get the feeling I'm going to go from graduation straight to the zombie apocalypse from the walking dead.>

I played Fleetwood a correspondence game some years ago. I was Black in a very sharp Sicilian, Richter-Rauzer, ending in a draw by perpetual check. I should dig it up and submit it.

benjinathan: <h> I have the stupidist question in some time.

I have been using SCID. I input my game and then how do I save it.

sometimes I think I have saved it (by pressing save game etc.) but then I can never find it again.

Help?

  hms123: <benjinathan>

1. Create a new database by going to File>New>Database then entering a file name. You can do this in any directory, not just the SCID directory that comes up. I keep mine in a file called hmschess in my Documents and Settings>HMS>hmschess>cool games

2. Enter the game (as you did) by making the moves, then you can use Tools>Export Current Game>Export Game to PGN File. This gets you to a Scid:Export Window with some choices. You can either add the game to an existing file, or you can create a new file and put the game there.

<crawfb5> no doubt has a better and easier way to do all this so perhaps he will weigh in.
