jessicafischerqueen: <lamont> It's good to see you in firm command on Bobby's page again. Thank goodness! And what a banner day it will be when <The Focus> gets his book out. At the moment, that's the only chess history book I'm interested in obtaining.

Right now, I have all the ones I want in order to do the research I'm doing at the moment.

Thanks for all those links and suggestions about documentary films and funding- I will certainly investigate those leads.

jessicafischerqueen: <The Slid> kind of sad to see you without the Godzilla avatar. Do you remember when you called <dom> a "miserable git" for correctly anticipating that he wouldn't be celebrating St. Paddy's?

That was years ago but it's one of my all time favorite posts. For ages I thought <switch> had said it, until <boomie> cleared it up for me.

Most of the music from <Charousek> is Hungarian, and yes from around the time frame you suggest.

playground player: <Jessicafischerqueen> What's your favorite Kurosawa film? I'm partial to the ones he did in the 50s and early 60s, in black & white--7 Samurai, Yojimbo, Sanjuro, Hidden Fortress, etc.

It's funny how Kurosawa's films are still just as enjoyable as they always were, but Ingmar Bergman's make me shake my head and wonder what I ever saw in them.

Feb-20-12  cormier: <<<<<<<<Jas 3:13-18> Beloved: Who among you is wise and understanding?> Let him show his works by a good life
in the humility that comes from wisdom.>

But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth.>
Wisdom of this kind does not come down from above
but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic.>

For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist,
there is disorder and every foul practice.>
But the wisdom from above is first of all pure, then peaceable, gentle, compliant,
full of mercy and good fruits,
without inconstancy or insincerity.>

And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace
for those who cultivate peace.>

jessicafischerqueen: <Pgp> I didn't get where I am today without watching the uncut (black and white) five and a half hour version of "Seven Samurai" at a special screening at my university. My favorite <K-dawg> black and whiter is "Castle of the Spider Web" (released in the US as "Throne of Blood"), which is his version of MacBeth.

I also love many of his color films, particularly "Ran" (King Lear) and "Kagemusha- the Shadow Warrior".

Travis Bickle: Thanks Jess for your musical input! I love that Hope Sandoval comment LOL! She reminds me a lot of Mazzy Star. The Sundays version was really good too. On That video of Wild Horses did you notice the charisma The Stones had? That's why I put them right up there with The Beatles because of that charisma. The Who didn't quite have it.

Here's a 1995 version of Wild Horses by The Rolling Stones for their 'Stripped' album when everybody was doing unplugged performances.

playground player: <Jessicafischerqueen> Both <Mrs. PGP> and I are adept at humming and whistling the music from "Seven Samurai." I use one of the themes to fire a warning shot across someone's bows without letting them know I'm firing a warning shot across their bows.

Meanwhile, "Bell Mountain" and its sequels is going to be brought to the Christian Film Festival next month (by the publishers, not by me), complete with promo posters and a table full of books.

Maybe next year we will be able to enter a Bell Mountain video produced by a certain person whose initials are JFQ.

Have you won any awards yet for your videos? If not, you should!

Travis Bickle: Hi Jess, I noticed you telling chancho that you never heard of Minnie Ripperton. Minnie grew up on Chicago's southside and before her stardom sang backup for chess record performers such as Etta James & Ramsey Lewis. She died really young. In the 70's this was her biggest hit.

Loving You
