http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G501...

"The Cinema Show" is one of their greatest compositions. I particularly love the taped seagulls in the middle of the song, adding to an increasingly intense climax to Pete's singing on the first half of the song. But this climax is not the end, there's five more minutes of Tony Bank's amazing keyboard treatment of the theme to come.

This is exactly the kind of music that reveals itself fully when you take as many strong psychedelics as possible and turn it up to 11.

  twinlark: Hi Jess.

You might consider adding Vladimir Petrov to your long term list. He was a strong Latvian player whom the Soviets expunged from history after sending him to one of their labour camps.

Just to give you a flavour of the player, here's a badly google-translated article about him from a Russian website, and John Watson reviews a book about him here: http://www.chess.co.uk/twic/jwatson....

You can see he was strong enough to play elbow to elbow with the likes of Alekhine, Fine, Reshevsky and Keres, and win games against them. This 1938 game against Alekhine is a classic: V Petrov vs Alekhine, 1938

Just a suggestion for the long term...the very long term. I think someone like this deserves to be remembered.

Alien Math: The Google Warning updates more sites in depth |

Google Gets Better At Detecting Hacked Pages, Adds Golf Search Feature & More

Google also improved the way it detects hacked pages and how it alerts users of these issues. Until now, Google says, “this algorithm has focused exclusively on homepages.” Now, however, hackers have learned from this and are hiding their hacked pages deeper on the sites they compromise. In reaction, Google has now expanded its algorithms to look for the issues on deeper pages as well.

Deeper detection of hacked pages. [launch codename "GPGB", project codename "Page Quality"] For some time now Google has been detecting defaced content on hacked pages and presenting a notice on search results reading, “This site may be compromised.” In the past, this algorithm has focused exclusively on homepages, but now we’ve noticed hacking incidents are growing more common on deeper pages on particular sites, so we’re expanding to these deeper pages. http://techcrunch.com/2012/06/07/go...

Black does not even need the f8-rook to give mate! The Black queen, knight, and the <EDGE OF THE BOARD> are sufficient.

notyetagm: Tiviakov vs Anand, 2012 1-0

Tiviakov rubs it in, annotating in the new Chessbase Magazine 148:

<Sergei Tiviakov:

<<<"It was a very easy win for me.">>>>

<Sergei Tiviakov: How I defeated the world champion

Vishy Anand's last competition before the WCh match in May did not quite look like that of a world champion. In the final round of the chess Bundesliga he was forced to concede defeat to Sergei Tiviakov with Black. Tiviakov analyses the game in which the naturalised Dutchman also turned after 1.e4 c5 2.Nf3 d6 to 3.Bb5+ and went on to deliver a model game on the subject of "the weak d5-square". <<<In doing so he picks apart the world champion's play.>>>>

Stanley's Cup is finally returning to the birthplace of hockey, L. A.

Naturally I was hoping for a Phoenix - L. A. final so we could see hockey played in 115* weather as it was intended.
