On this website someone addressed me once as "mate". It goes without saying that I do not wish to be mated by fellow kibitzers.

May-19-12  falso contacto: As far as I can see you can start delaying the games and hoping the guy begins drinking. And for the captain to take into consideration: we are pretty scared of playing against crusaders. It might affect our future life or death. You can certainly point out some cynical bastards who don't believe in anything for me to get a more comfortable intellectual struggle.

WannaBe: <technical draw> When the other guy isn't looking, sneak that spare-extra queen on the board. Guaranteed results.

brankat: <td> Wait with Your moves till the last moment, then get a week's worth of vacations, and so on (after every move). Let them have the taste of their own medicine.

If the opponent still doesn't give up, then play on until the Check-mate(s). One move before the (forced) ch-mate offer a Draw. If declined, take one more week off. Chances are Your opponent may end up in either a nut-house or a coffin.

technical draw: <brankat> Right now I'm playing a game where my opponent has the bare king and I have a queen and ready to queen another pawn and he won't resign. What I'll do is get him on the back rank and keep him there until the 49th move then I'll checkmate.

WannaBe: I got 2 games like that, completely lost for my opponent, but they won't resign. =(

AgentRgent: Something is seriously wrong with GKs postponement policy. My opponent (smallphish) is on postponement number 4!!! (still in the first 8 moves of 1 of our games!) :/

WannaBe: <AgentRgent> I believe I have 2 wins in that match, that will bring it to 4 wins, if <brankat> can hold a draw, that be 4.5 and we'd win the challenge.

(Then I don't care what you do. But I just like to make sure we have a team win first. =))

AgentRgent: Oh.. I'm FAR to stubborn to just let him have the games... If I think I'm going to win.. I'll play for the next 10 years if I have to!! ;)

(I'll just complain endlessly about what a douche bag my opponent is!)

May-21-12  BadKnight: I like to box in my opponent's king, maintain a checkmate in one or two threats but don't deliver the final blow, just wait and sit and make a lot of underpromotions and cherish the position.

AgentRgent: I once queened 6 pawns before my mating my stubborn opponent (I would have gotten more but I only had 6 pawns left! lol!)

technical draw: Stop the presses! TD does NOT play the Ruy Lopez Exchange! Not since 1973 has TD played 4.Ba4 instead of the winning 4.Bxc6. And in a Team Match game too. Has anyone checked the temperature of hell lately?

technical draw: In another team game my opponent just blundered a rook. I'd rather be lucky than good.

my opponent is still playing on in the final position. what is the best way to punish him? checkmate quickly or make a lot of underpromotions?

technical draw: <Badknight> I have had to deal with players like that since forever. The best advice is just to play on calmly and make the best moves until checkmate. However I know how frustrating that can be as I have resigned games like this because I just couldn't stand it. We find out quickly that chess is not a gentleman's game.

technical draw: TD loses a game to "Moondust Collectors" player <kkooi3>. No big blunder just slowly outplayed. I'm also looking bad in the second game. Anand no longer fears me.

technical draw: Forget the above. There was a big negative blunder on my part. I failed to win a piece when I had the chance. And I had 3 (!) chances to trap a bishop and failed to see it. I must be in love or drunk. But since I don't drink and my wife doesn't allow me to fall in love it must have been temporary blindness. aarrgghh!
