<FINAL STANDINGS PREDICTION GAME FORUM>

Predict the final standings of tournaments.

8 years ago kibitzers started predicting the final outcome of a tournament on the tournament page. I then developed a simple but brand new system to calculate all standings of the tournament participants into a prediction ranking.

In progress: Norway tournament May 7
http://norwaychess.com/en/supertour...

Here an example on how to post your predictions:

1. Carlsen
2. Aronian
3. Radjabov
4. Anand
4. Karjakin
6. Topalov
6. Nakamura
6. Svidler
6. Hao
10. Hammer

For each correct standing you'll get a maximum amount of points. Each prediction deviation from the actual player standing in the tournament, will deduct one point from your total (ABSOLUTE RANKER).

In case of a shared player's standing the average standing counts (both actual and in your predictions).

The SQUARE RANKER, squares your predictions' deviations. Here only medals are awarded if the winner s is not the same person s as in the absolute ranker.

Same goes for the The PAIR BETTING RANKER compare all possible pair outcomes of the tournament participants. This is invented by YouRang

There are virtual-contestants <ELO>, the rating order and <CHESSBOOKIE>, the Chess Bookie game odds order here.

The three best predictions will get Real Virtual Gold Silver and Bronze!

Special thanks to <YouRang> who made a software to calculate these numbers. Don't miss his YouRang chessforum game results prediction contest during the tournament also ([1-0], [1/2], [0-1])!

From a KKKKKKKKQR medalist there.

(and counting ;))

or predict the # of moves in User: ohiochessfan organized by <chessmoron>

Cheers.

lostemperor: Wow, what a great performance of Wang Hao against Carlsen to beat him in the endgame what is Carlsen specialty. A historical game also afer being the first Chinese beating the World Champion Anand in January now also the first Chinese to beat the world number one/world's record ...

lostemperor: How about this: Ivanchuk will blunder but only after Carlsen has no slim winning chances anymore.

lostemperor: After a tournament with some bizar game results <SwitchingQuylthulg> came out winning K-Double Crown-K in the Absolute and Square ranker!! is one and the same person(s). <SloVice> won the Pair bettings to take a Crown K into the Hall of fame!

Two second and third place for <YouRang>QQR! <WannaBe> better start putting his monitor back in upright position again because after a bad start he finishes with Q in the Pair Bettings!

R<rogge> and <wordfunph>R took Bronze in the Absolute and Square ranker respectively. <ELO> gets an honourary Bronze also in the absolute ranker.

(However even though I value the square ranker as much as any, according to the rules, the medals there will not be included into the Hall of Fame because the winner(s) of gold is (are) the same person(s))

Jan-29-12

lostemperor: I noticed that people who already are in the hall of Fame, won again in the different rankers. Also the great <YouRang>, who never won in his own contest, like I never won the standard ranker here (the socalled organizer's curse), and <wannaBe> make up for their reputation ;-)

This is a call of encouragement for all others and new comers to try to beat the Hall of Famers in the next tournament to come!!:)

  Golden Executive:

Thanks for running the contest <lostemperor> and congratulations to the winners.

Jan-29-12  Ezzy: Congrats to the winners

Thanks for your effort and time once again <lostemperor> for providing this fun competition over the last few weeks.

My dismal showing is all the fault of Topalov. I picked him for second place, NOT second to last place. I'm gonna try that upside down monitor trick of <wannabe's>

Jan-29-12  SloVice: Congrats to <SwitchingQuylthulg> and the other medalists! Thank you <lostemperor> for running the show.

YouRang: Thanks <lostemperor> for another great contest. It's amazing that I often do well in your contest and yet consistently fall short in my own.

I see in this contest, I underestimated Radjabov pretty badly, and overestimated Karjakin. Otherwise I did pretty decently.

Congratulations <SwitchingQuylthulg> and <SloVice> for the fine gold-winning performances. <SloVice> seems to have a knack for Betting contests. :-)

WinKing: Thanks for being such a gracious host <lostemperor>! It was fun watching the races develop in these contests. I'm gonna have to find out <YouRang>'s secret to doing well in this event. He's always in the hunt. Congrats to all the the winners <SwitchingQuylthulg>, <SloVice>, <YouRang>, <WannaBe>, <wordfunph>, <ELORATINGS> & <rogge>. I think that <ELORATINGS> character is a 'ringer'. ;) Great job guys!

Robin01: Nice job running the contest. Thanks.
Jan-30-12  SloVice: FYI <lostemperor> I think <SwitchingQuylthulg> is missing a K from the <HOF>

SwitchingQuylthulg: I wouldn't mind an extra K of course, but the reality is that the medals are right (I had one gold before and only one of my new golds counts for HOF) - <lostemperor> simply moved me too high up :)
