<FINAL STANDINGS PREDICTION GAME FORUM>

Predict the final standings of tournaments.
When years ago, at chessgames.com people were predicting the outcome of tournaments at the page, I developed a simple but new system to calculate all standings of the tournament participants into a prediction ranking.

Prediciton event: Tal Memorial 2013! http://www.chessdom.com/tal-memoria...

Here an example on how to post your predictions:<

1. Anand
2. Kramnik
2. Karjakin
4. Carlsen
5. Caruana
6. Nakamura
7. Mamedyarov
8. Morozevich
9. Gelfand
10. Andreikin

>
For each correct standing you'll get a maximum amount of points. Each prediction deviation from the actual player standing in the tournament, will deduct one point from your total (ABSOLUTE RANKER).

In case of a shared player's standing the average standing counts (both actual and in your predictions).

The SQUARE RANKER, squares your predictions' deviations. Here only medals are awarded if the winner s is not the same person s as in the absolute ranker.

Same goes for the The PAIR BETTING RANKER compare all possible pair outcomes of the tournament participants. This is invented by YouRang

There are virtual-contestants <ELO>, the rating order and <CHESSBOOKIE>, the Chess Bookie game odds order here.

The three best predictions will get Real Virtual Gold Silver and Bronze!

Special thanks to <YouRang> who made a software to calculate these numbers. Don't miss his YouRang chessforum game results prediction contest during the tournament also ([1-0], [1/2], [0-1])!

From a KKKKKKKKQR medalist there.

(and counting ;))

or predict the # of moves in User: ohiochessfan organized by <chessmoron>

Cheers.

  iron maiden: Dortmund 2006:

1. Adams, 4.5/7
2. Gelfand, 4/7
3. Kramnik, 4/7
4. Leko, 4/7
5. Aronian, 3.5/7
6. Svidler, 3.5/7
7. Jobava, 2.5/7
8. Naiditsch, 2.5/7

Since Dortmund now consists of only seven rounds, the 2.5-point margin between first and last place last year could be even slimmer this time around. The six top tenners in the field are just about the most solid players in the world today and should keep the competition close to the end. +2 will probably be enough for a share of first, and in this field, against these particular opponents, I'm backing Adams as the most likely guy to get it.

Jul-16-06  Montreal1666: Dortmund prediction:

1-2 Aronian, Kramnik
3-4 Adams , Gelfand
5-6 Svidler , Leko
7. Naiditsch
8. Jobava

1. Kramnik

YouRang: Earlier (July 5) <lostemperor> mentioned that he was only doing Dortmund.

But if he changes his mind and decides to both Biel as well, then I think (for the sake of the CONMAN software), it would be best if Dortmund and Biel predictions are provided in separate posts. I haven't tested it, but it might ignore the 2nd set of predictions if they are all entered in the same post.

Robin01: <lostemperor> You can delete my first post, as I put each tournament into a separate entry as <YouRang> has suggested.
Jul-20-06  mikejaqua: Kramnik is coming back in form and is looking to prove himself again. And maybe claw back to #2. Adams hasn't had too many great showings. He needs to come out strong here. Leko never plays up to his potential but as long as he stays awake (while putting the rest of us to sleep) he'll do well.

1. Kramnik
2. Svidler
3. Adams
4. Leko
5. Aronian
6. Naiditsch
