my chess life story..

My chess career was tainted with tragedy. When I was 8 years old, my proud father matched me against Dino, a veteran player in the barber shop. I was not only beaten but totally demolished. I could still remember my opponent’s statement to my red-faced father, “pare, spirit na lang natitira sa anak mo. Wala nang fighting!”

Many years later, right after I graduated in college, I went home to the province. Early in the next morning I rushed to the barber shop which was situated at the back of our house to seek revenge. I almost fainted when I found out that Mang Dino had passed away several years earlier!

jessicafischerqueen: Good idea- I will in fact post a review of the Petrosyan biography when I finish.

Congratulations on your richly deserved Caissar award. As I posted last week in here, we at the <ChessBookForum> are particularly pleased with your recognition-

considering that for long stretches of time it's your work that keeps the Book forum going.

Such dedication to chess literature...

wonderful.

Warmest regards,
Jess

Jan-17-11  pulsar: <Sugardom> Hak hak! Ask <wordfunphilidor>, as soon as I was assigned a rating, the whole RP players' record got wiped out from FIDE's site. But that's the highest rating I've achieved in my life so far, probably ever. :D
