my chess life story..

My chess career was tainted with tragedy. When I was 8 years old, my proud father matched me against Dino, a veteran player in the barber shop. I was not only beaten but totally demolished. I could still remember my opponent’s statement to my red-faced father, “pare, spirit na lang natitira sa anak mo. Wala nang fighting!”

Many years later, right after I graduated in college, I went home to the province. Early in the next morning I rushed to the barber shop which was situated at the back of our house to seek revenge. I almost fainted when I found out that Mang Dino had passed away several years earlier!

  wordfunph: lottery winner Michael Carroll

http://www.cleveland.com/pdq/index....

Won: $15 million.

Where: England.

What happened: After pocketing his jackpot in 2002, the 26-year-old Carroll was quickly dubbed the "lotto lout" by the British press as he squandered away his winnings on drugs, jewelry, cars and houses. He even held demolition derbies with his vehicles in his back yard, often setting them ablaze afterward.

Today: Carroll has served two prison sentences and reportedly is broke.

Quote: "I regret the drugs. I can't say I regret the women."

wahahhhh! :-)

Hmm. Back down again. How do you get down so low? Do you bet on upsets? Or do you bet on favourites when they lose?
