KQR Mil gracias to my generous patron <jessicafischerqueen> for the two-year premmy! KQR

my chess book collection..

my chess life story..

My chess career was tainted with tragedy. When I was 8 years old, my proud father matched me against Dino, a veteran player in the barber shop. I was not only beaten but totally demolished. I could still remember my opponent’s statement to my red-faced father, “pare, spirit na lang natitira sa anak mo. Wala nang fighting!”

Many years later, right after I graduated in college, I went home to the province. Early in the next morning I rushed to the barber shop which was situated at the back of our house to seek revenge. I almost fainted when I found out that Mang Dino had passed away several years earlier!

   Sep-20-14 Vidmar vs Najdorf, 1946
wordfunph: Najdorf's story.. <You know my history about Groningen 1946? I played against Vidmar. I had a bad position and he said to me, 'Young man, are you playing for a win?' I was worse, so I answered, 'Thank you very much. I agree to a draw.' To which he replied, 'No I didn't offer ...

wordfunph: taken from the book Finding Bobby Fischer.. Sosonko (after the game): You're not supposed to push the button of the clock with a piece in your hand. Portisch: I don't know. Why? But you are not supposed to continuously look for dust particles on the chess board.

Mar-17-12  Iskubadayb: It's obvious that Barb is ahead of the bunch. He is right up there with Wesley. They are probably even right now in strength! Simply because Wes seemed to have lost the impetus, if you will. His games of late were uninspired. There's no drive. Maybe the desire is gone temporarily. Anyway, Oliver must keep doing what he's doing, and more. He should add more to his physical regimen, if there is one. You have to be strong physically to be able to persevere in grueling mental battles.

This SPICE thing with Wes could be the jump start that he needs for a renewed push to the top. :)

Signs na din yung sa simul sa Meralco of slips in his game, and per Iskuba's astute assessment of his recent gains.

brankat: <wordfunph> According to the Bookie the settlement day was supposed to be Mar-18th :-)
Mar-19-12  pinoymaster77: wordfun/Iskuba,

Ayun, may clue from Susan's latest post in Wes' site that Wes and Robson 'will room together next semester...', good sign!!

Mar-20-12  Penguincw: < wordfunph: <Peng> European Individual Championship 1st round now available, good luck. >

I missed it, but life can often get busy. Bets from Asian tournaments (e.g. Nanjing), would probably be best for me, while Europeans, not the greatest, especially when they release it late in the knight.

Mar-27-12  Djoker: Thanks.

<E.B., San Pedro, Laguna, Philippines

Clearly a fabricated news on Capa's billiards. This was the first time I heard of the chess-billiards match, though I read somewhere that Capablanca was a strong billiards player that if he had devoted more time to the game then he would have been a world champion. Chessbase rocks!>
