 | | Penguincw: Shankland may have been on fire at the Olympiad, but he is just 0.5/2 so far, which included a black loss to a 2243 FM! In fact, only 5 of the 8 favourites (according to Riga Technical University Open: WINNER) are 2/2, and this does not include Shirov. |

 | | Penguincw: After 3 rounds, 10 players are 3/3 (including 9 GMs), and tomorrow, they all face each other, making sure no more than 5 will remain perfect. Also, for the 2nd round in a row, Shankland is not paired, and receives the loss. As he withdrawn? |
Aug-18-14 | | PhilFeeley: Why does <CG.com> have such an incomplete results table? |
Aug-19-14 | | dangerhump: Confirmed, Shankland withdrew. Lost half the points he gained at the Olympiad |
Aug-19-14
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: <PhilFeeley: Why does <CG.com> have such an incomplete results table?> Because it's calculated from the games available, and CG only has 18 games from each round; that's all tiesraide.rtu.lv - and TWIC, CG's usual go-to source - currently offer. It would be possible to update the table manually to make it more accurate, but doing that after every round is a mug's game. |
Aug-19-14 | | PhilFeeley: Then why can chess-results.com get it right more often, if they have the same access to the same material? |
Aug-19-14 | | Shams: <PhilFeeley> Because chess-results.com displays results without having the game scores to back them up. Chessgames isn't set up to do this; results tables here are built programmatically by indexing the available game scores. There are plenty of sites that try to give as up to the minute information as possible. But this site-- well, I'll let them tell it: <Chessgames.com is a database of historical chess games combined with discussion forums…> Shouldn't be more than a week or two before the correct games scores filter in. That's not too long to wait for history to be recorded, right? :) |
Aug-19-14
 | | SwitchingQuylthulg: Besides, it's not remotely true that Chess-Results has the same access to the same material. Chess-Results doesn't get its data from TWIC, or even tiesraide.rtu.lv; it comes directly from the tournament organizers, and hasn't been previously published anywhere else. |
