Pawn and Two: As noted in Alan McGowan's book, 'Kurt Richter', the Berlin BSG chess tournament was held in February 1928 to celebrate the centenary of the Berliner Schachgesellschaft. The tournament book for this event, 'Das Internationale Schachmeisterturnier zur Hundertjahrfeier der Berliner Schachgesellschaft', was edited by Kurt Richter, his first tournament book.

Pawn and Two: The 100-year anniversary of the Berliner Schachgesellschaft occurred in 1927. However, due to delays, the international tournament to celebrate this event did not take place until February 1928.

The prizes for this tournament were as follows:

1st prize - 2,000 Mark - Nimzowitsch
2nd prize - 1,000 Mark - Bogoljubov
3rd prize - 600 Mark - Tartakower
4th prize - 400 Mark - P. Johner

Special prizes:

Best score against the prize winners - 200 Mark - L. Steiner - Steiner scored 3-0 against the top 3 prize winners!

Best score as an international tournament newcomer - 100 Mark and a silver smoking service - K. Helling.

After the drawing for pairings, and before the start of the tournament, an interesting innovation was introduced. Each of the contestants was interviewed on the new technological wonder, the radio!
