| | HeMateMe: Hastings used to have some star Euro guests, sometimes a pair of top Russians. I think Korchnoi, Karpov, Smyslov and Petrosian have played Hastings. I realize every year can't be dynamite, but I think the organizers should put up a modest appearance fee for some of: Adams, Short, Nunn, ...? |

Unless I'm mistaken (always a possibility) all that remains of the current Annual Hastings Congress are some weekend rapid events. Still, at least we've only a week to wait until Wijk aan Zee and a chance to see which of the current crop of upcoming youngsters is able to unseat some Super GMs. |
