<susan> Then that should be clearly stated on the page, as that makes it different from every other one.

Susan Freeman: <Diademus> you are welcome. You are correct. Danny was a one man show. When I suddenly had to take his place, I had to get help. STAT Hence Sargon, Lee. I was hiking in north Alaska visiting an organic farm when I learned of Dannyís passing. I was bombarded With technical Issues and emotional shock. I know there have been a good share of glitches along the way, and I thank all of you loyal members and volunteers, many of whom I am just learning about. Now I see why Danny called it a community 😊

Susan Freeman: <Diademus> yes. The rough version is mentioned by Steve on the homepage. Still waiting for Sargon to teach Steve how to load the rest.

Sokrates: Thanks, <Susan Freeman>, for clarifying what I asked for. And my apologies for not knowing you are the mother of Daniel. The more it's admirable that you have personally engaged in the continuation of your son's legacy.

---

<Diademas> on this comment: <I don't think it's any kind of secret. Besides, this is a very small operation and not a multimillion global enterprise. When Daniel Freeman ran it he did literally everything himself. Even today I don't know if anyone has a full-time job here.>

Mrs Freeman just wrote the colophon I asked for, and I doubt it took more than five minutes to do it. You don't have to be "a multimillion global enterprise" to write a 12 lines colophon. Please don't magnify my modest and fair request ad absurdum.

Sep-28-20  login:

Indeed so what.

As a nurse I understand you have to connect and see the good in people all the time - that's a beautiful treat. Your son and Alberto both were very covered about any private information for good reasons.

I apologize for weighting in as non asked third party, still my point stands. Nothing else to add from my side.

Diademas: Btw. There is a colofon of sorts on the bottom of the front page reading: <Copyright 2001-2020, Chessgames Services LLC Web design & database development by 20/20 Technologies>

I took the liberty of Googling <Chessgames Services LLC> and the result shocked me!

<Employees: 92
Revenue: $18 Million>

https://www.zoominfo.com/c/chessgam...
I'm having a hard time believing any of that to be true.

It does seem exaggerated, but it also depends on when that information was given, and whether the revenues are counted from establishment (and not per year).

At its peak, chessgames.com was quite a popular website. And I assume that if they counted all administrators, content editors, games data managers, programmers, UI designers etc. including all freelancers and people who did some site administration work voluntarily, then 92 would not be so far away from the real number of people involved at the site's peak.

Also the site had quite a lot of paying customers at its peak, and had income from other sources such as ads, so it could generate a nice revenue (I agree that 18M$ still look exaggerated).

looking here:

https://trends.google.com/trends/ex...

you can see how popular chessgames.com was until 2010 (I still remember the site's traffic back then..). It was more popular than chessbase.com at its peak, and it was popular about the same level of lichess.org popularity today (and lichess is very popular today). and even today it is more popular than chess24 (which is quite popular by itself)

Diademas: Thanks for your reply <metatron2>.
According to the website I linked to their revenue is $18.4 Million in the first quarter of 2020. Down from 21.8 the year before.
Unless "Chessgames Services LLC" is some kind of holding company, or launders money for the Mexican Mafia, I can't make sense of it.

Sokrates: <Diademas> I took no offense, but admittedly I was annoyed by the <multimillion global enterprise> as if it requiered that magnitude to make a list of who is responsible for CG. I know about Mr. Freeman, after all I have been here for 15 years, but I have also seen many others participate in this (Sargon, Annie K, Tabanus to name a few) after DF passed away, and I simply wished to know who the people are behind this site. That does not requiere more than the five minutes it took the honourable Mrs. Freeman to state. That didn't requiere a <multimillion global enterprise>, right?

Stepping back to a distance I apparently have been too sensitive and not seen your intentions. I am sorry for that and apologise. It can be regarded as a personal flaw of mine that I can be overly sensitive to just the indication of an underestimation, I know that.

Imagine what you'll find out once to get access to their tax returns!

haha yeah right..

So with their 92 (reported) employees they should still have around 17M$ net income per-quater.

Susan F. must be such a huge multi-millionaire then, I wonder why she keeps working as a nurse.

And I wonder why we didn't see any new features in this website for like ages, keeping it far behind other social websites, in response-time, visibility, functionality, appearance, etc.

With that kind of income, they could easily hire 100 top level developers, with product managers and UI designers that could have done a great job..

Susan Freeman: I am glad you all have such a bloated idea of the fiscal operations of CG! Gee whiz. I wish it were true 😊

We are a tightly held corporation.
I take no salary. This is an act of love.

I am not now working as a nurse btw, but still have my license active. I have just completed 30 credits for this honor. (Nursing is not just a matter of money. It is truly a calling. )

After I had a new hip, and now a new back, I have been on a hiatus. I miss it very much.

Tomorrow is Danielís birthday. His real name is Demetrius Cross. He had it legally changed to Daniel Freeman. An alias. CG was technically owned by Demetrius Cross. His father was of Greek decent. I am of German/ Dutch decent I was always Very athletic and hoped Danny would be more active. He was 6í4, but had no interest. I guess I was a little bit like Fischerís mother.

I consider it my duty to keep CG alive, and I take no salary.

I hope this clarifies things

Oh and 2020 tech was a company owned by Lee and Danny. It is now defunct.

Sokrates: Respect and honour to you, Susan.

My wife is also a nurse, although very much working as a dept. leader of ECT. She would say the same as you: it is indeed a calling (particularly in these sinister times of the virus).

You have done a great deed keeping CG alive after your dear son passed away. In those months we all feared the site might be closed forever, but you saved it - presumably "with a little help from your friends".

It is very admirable and decent of you to be so open about your name(s) and the leading people - it tells a lot about who you are, and that is highly appreciated.

Your German/Dutch decent once again reminds us of the tight bonds between the peoples of the U.S. and Europe.

ECT = ElectroConvulsive Therapy or in plain English: Electroshock! :-)

<So you are married to a nurse. You must be very understanding. > LOL - but I am! I have understood that you get no special care when you are married to a nurse. You know the saying: The shoemaker's son always go barefoot! (I know my wife won't read this!)

Yeah, let's make the Indians great again! :-)
