Russian Championship Higher League (Women) (2020)

The 70th Russian Women's Championship Higher League tournament was a 37-player 9-round Swiss held in Grand Hotel Zhemchuzhina in Sochi, Russia, 8-17 October 2020. Rest day: 13 October. The top five players would qualify for the Women's Russian Championship Superfinal in December. Time control: 90 minutes for the first 40 moves, then 30 more minutes to the end of the game, with 30 seconds added per move from move 1. The overall prize fund (Open and Women) was 5 million rubles, or about 70,000 euros. Games started at 3 pm (Round 9: 2 pm). Tournament director: Alexander Tkachev. Chief arbiter: Artiom Akhmetov. Number of games played: 159.

Valentina Gunina won with 8/9, ahead of Guseva (6.5/9) and Garifullina (3rd on tiebreak). Grigorieva and Getman also qualified for participation in the Russian Championship Superfinal (Women) (2020).
