Russian Championship (2000)

The 53rd Russian Championship tournament was a 62-player 11-round Swiss held in Samara, Russia, 17-27 June 2000. The event counted as a Zonal with three qualifiers going through to the next World Championship tournament. Number of games played: 341.

Sergey Volkov won with 8/11. Volkov, Rustemov (2nd on tiebreak) and Kharlov (3rd) also qualified for participation in the FIDE World Championship Knockout Tournament (2000).

  Tabanus: Hopefully the games are squeeky clean (about 325 games were added). I found very few online sources. Missing info: exact venue, time control, prizes/prize fund, organizer, arbiter, etc. Ruschess has standings for nos 1-7, TfS says Zvjaginsev was no. 8 and Maljutin no. 9, the rest are sorted by number of points.
