European Rapid Championship (2021)

The 2021 European Rapid Championship was a 567-player 11-round Swiss tournament held at the Spodek Sport and Entertainment Centre in Katowice, Poland, 18-19 December. It was organized by the Silesian Chess Federation under the auspices of the European Chess Union. Time control: 15 minutes for the game, with 10 seconds added per move from move 1. Rounds 1 and 7 started at 9:30 am (Day 1) and 10 am (Day 2). Prize fund: 19,000 euros, with 4000 euros to the winner. Chief organizer: Lukasz Turlej. Chief arbiter: Tomasz Delega. Number of games played: 3062.

Alexander Motylev won on Buchholz tiebreak ahead of Donchenko (2nd) and Pultinevicius (3rd), all three with 9.5/11.
