Jul-05-25  unspiek: Is the Chinese championship only nine rounds? That doesn't seem like enough, or am I just channeling Fischer?

perfidious: The most surprising thing is that there was only a three-way deadlock after nine rounds.

That said, I agree: nine games also does not strike me as long enough to decide a national championship, though in recent years the British championship has also reduced to nine in place of the eleven-round swiss that country used for decades.

  HeMateMe: 11 would be better.
Jul-05-25  unspiek: <HeMateMe> Fischer said that eleven games wasn't enough. I wonder how he figured more could be funded.

  HeMateMe: Fischer was emotionally disturbed.
Jul-05-25  unspiek: <Stonehenge> Thanks for actual information! This event got surprisingly little coverage, despite China being a major chess power.

perfidious: It is hypocritical to get bent out of shape over whatever fancied grievance you have with me, then throw out disrespect for no reason.

See ya, hate ta be ya.

HeMateMe: I think the games here are excellent, fighting chess.

Compare this to the dreary short draws in that Butt-ugly Moscow tournament recently posted here. A pack of quick draws. The players all got paid and left town before they accidently fell off balconies.
