Oct-20-05  EmperorAtahualpa: My god, there is even a GREENLAND open??
Nov-15-05  sleepkid: the amateur section was hotly contested by some sled dogs, two icebergs and a polar bear.

(my apologies to all Inuits, I'm sure Greenland is a lovely country.)

Did anyone know that Greenland was named such as a clever marketing ploy by a viking to get people to settle there?

Angus Tinker: That's it for me! I'm off to Greenland!

Pepperpot: Sounds lovely!

(more apologies to the Inuits and the sled dogs.)

Feb-16-09  Dredge Rivers: Brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!
Dec-09-09  felixd: Lol a Greenland Open...

whiteshark: "The Greenland Open 2003 took place in the southern town of Qaqortoq from 28 June to 1 July. A line up of foreign stars, all of whom will visited Greenland for the first time, and local players contested the <rapid event> for a total prize fund of US$10,000. Luke McShane with a tremendous 8.5/9 score took clear first a point clear of Jˇhann Hjartarson. There are clearly errors in a few of the games."

playground player: <sleepkid> Actually, at the time Eric the Red first visited it, the parts of Greenland that he saw really were green and quite suitable for colonization. That was in the 11th century. By the 15th the climate had changed--no SUVs or air conditioners involved--and Greenland could no longer support the life and culture brought over from Iceland by the colonists.
