She pretty much hands the games over to her opponents whenever she loses because she's always looking for some "spectacular" shot and ends up defeating herself. It's no wonder an iron machine like Kramnik has such an awe-inspiring record against her. |

I just want to remind people that she won the Benidorm tournament last year ahead of competition such as Shirov, Karpov, Ponomariov, and Karjakin. Besides winning Essent last October, she took second at Wijk aan Zee last January, where she did not drop a single game, finishing ahead of Kramnik, Shirov, Bareev, Topalov, Radjabov, and Ponomariov. My opinion is that her results at Benidorm this year have more to do with exhaustion rather than her being overrated. On the Judit Polgar page, zorro says that he thinks that Judit looks unhappy. On the other hand, I agree with you, she isn't overrated, she's just getting exhausted from all the tournaments she has been attending. She should get some well deserved rest. |

She is currently over 200 points ahead of the next strongest female Chiburdanidze. 3. She is unquestionably a "super-grandmaster"; currently being the 10th strongest player in the world on FIDE's list at 2722, equal with Leko (9th), and ahead of such world-class players as Ponomariov, Ivanchuk, and Dreev. 4.Gelfand has a lower rating than Polgar.
Finally, an opinion. A player's performance at rapid play chess is surely ephemeral compared to successes at a more relective time control where random tactics, and losses on time, are less likely to effect the result. |

| Dec-05-03 | | ongyj: Maybe I'm third on that? Well, talk about over-rated here... who'se anybody to justify whether a player is over-rated or not? Just because Judit(or any other player) did not perform does not mean he/she is over-rated. Just beacause Kasparov did not perform in all his tournaments this year does not make his 2800+ rating over-rated. It is very unfair to judge just by a few games, and mind you, even 10 games are considered very few. That explains the difficulty of having a 'fair' World Championship, should a player underperform. That is, in my opinion, why the top players are reluctant to participate in a World Champion Reunification Match. Leaving fame and money factors aside, the good players do not want to get kicked out by lesser players due to an error. Meanwhile, sponsors are unwilling to contribute funds for lengthy tournaments. Chess is already a very difficult game to play well, yet organising a fair tournament is nearly impossible! |

This girl's just out to find the better part of her game. You guys(not all) jump on her when she has one bad day. How many of you are perfect? No one. When Michael Jordan went 0/10 in a game, I'm sure people criticized him, but he came back to win the championship on the last shot. So what I'm saying is she's doing her best, and she knows what her best is, not what anyone else says. So go look in the mirror and at your own chess abilities before you put her down, because she is a good player. Period. |
