Kibitzer's Corner
Nov-08-04  rndapology: What were the time controls?
Nov-08-04  fgh: 25+10, if I'am not wrong.
Nov-08-04  acirce: I think it was 15+3 for the most part, 20+5 in the two final games, and 5+5 in the two blitz tiebreak games between Shirov and Motylev
Nov-08-04  rndapology: That explains some things, thanks.
Nov-08-04  cuendillar: If those were the time controls, it seems like Anand was the obvious winner. Are there any stronger rapid players around at all?
Nov-08-04  acirce: No. Not only is Anand the best rapid player, he is so by far, I'd say. He hasn't had much opposition in the latest tournaments, but he also won 13th Amber Rapid (2004) and all the tiebreaks in Dortmund and all the matches in Mainz since 2000 and..
Nov-08-04  cuendillar: I seemed to remember something of the like, but didn't want to sound too confident in case I was wrong...
Nov-08-04  Knight13: Lots of high GMs in here. Why Kramnik, Leko and Kasparov are not in here?
Nov-08-04  aw1988: <Anand won the final with 7.5 points out of 8!> Can someone say deja vu?

  tpstar: deja vu
Nov-08-04  Knight13: deja vu.

Alley op.

Nov-09-04  themindset: <Knight13> Kramnik and Leko are probably still resting, and I would expect that Kasparov is busy with his book stuff and preparing for the Russian Championships.

Although some might claim there is a degree of "fear"...

Nov-10-04  garrry: nice tournament
Nov-10-04  Discoalex: To save time shouldn't we just award Anand all the prize money and have a seperate tourney for 2nd place?
Nov-10-04  YOUNG HAVOC: I would like to play a game of chess
Nov-10-04  euripides: <YoungHavoc>: try visting a site such as,,, or the Internet Chess club.
