Kibitzer's Corner
Sep-21-05  chesswonders: Were the participants in this tournament by invitation or by the virtue of rating and age factor? Was wondering why Radjabov has not played in this tournament.
Sep-21-05  firebyrd: CG caption: <The eight strongest under-20 players in the world lock horns at the Casino de Montbenon> - a slight exaggeration. Though all of them are obviously strong plaers, only the Lausanne top half are really in - or even near - the World under-20 top eight.
Sep-21-05  stijn: That's true, if they really wanted such a strong tournament they should have tried to get radjabov, karjakin, efimenko, navara, timofeev,... to complete the field. But perhaps that would become very expensive. And Radjabov definitely thinks he's too strong for a tournament like this. And maybe some of the other think the the same and prefer to play in the european team championship underway now. But it would have been more fun if all the players were of 2650 calibre. Now not a single surprise has happened in the tournament. Everybody finished exactly following the rating expectations.
Sep-21-05  Stevens: I think at least some of those players are playing in the European Club Championships.
Sep-21-05  Marvol: <firebyrd> Has it been changed (the caption)? Now it correctly says "Eight of the strongest under-20 players in the world lock horns at the Casino de Montbenon. "
Sep-21-05  jperr75108: very nice chess.fm hahahaha
Sep-21-05  firebyrd: <Marvol> Yes, the caption is updated now.
