|Jun-03-06|| ||hitman84: < THE pawn: <notyetagm> Wow! Sounds like a hollywood movie:|
narrator:An underground group forces chess talents to breed together in order to produce chess machines. Beware humans, here they come.>LOL!
Have'nt you watched Matrix.
Humans are not born they are grown :)
|Jun-03-06|| ||THE pawn: Matrix? Sorry I took the blue pill.|
|Jun-03-06|| ||iron maiden: Ukraine seems set to wrap up the gold today: Lahno just beat Harika with Black and Zhukova also looks winning.|
|Jun-03-06|| ||doremi: Ode to Hou Yifan
Today was round 12
and you are 12
Today was your lucky day
today was your plucky day
You plucked your opponent bald
like a pingpong ball
|Jun-03-06|| ||doremi: Performance rating with final round to go:
Kosintseva Tatiana 2631
Zhao Xue 2610
Hou Yifan 2575
Stefanova Antoaneta 2550
Hou Yifan playing on board 3 is ahead of former Women World Champion Stefanova playing on board 1!
|Jun-03-06|| ||chessmoron: China needs Russia to draw or lose tomorrow to win Silver.|
|Jun-04-06|| ||Raskolnikov: All games drawn in Armenia-Ukraine => Ukraine is the new Olympian champion. Congratulations!!!|
|Jun-04-06|| ||percyblakeney: That was the first match Ukraine didn't win, but they didn't need to... Unexpected that Russia missed the gold with their very strong team and the best performing player of the Olympiad (Tatiana Kosintseva).|
|Jun-04-06|| ||Raskolnikov: <percyblakeney> It seems that girls from China are winning 2.5-0.5 ( Zhao Xue is 2 pawns up, Hou Yifan stands better too). The russian girls havenīt won the silver medal yet...|
|Jun-04-06|| ||percyblakeney: The official site claims that Hou Yifan lost, I doubt that is correct, she is clearly winning...|
|Jun-04-06|| ||percyblakeney: She may have lost on time, in that case the silver will go to Russia.|
|Jun-04-06|| ||Raskolnikov: It is absolutely winning for Hou Yifan. I think it must be 1-0 (not 0-1) Who wins silver if China wins 2.5-0.5 and Russia plays 1.5-1.5 against India?|
|Jun-04-06|| ||percyblakeney: <Who wins silver if China wins 2.5-0.5 and Russia plays 1.5-1.5 against India?>|
I think China would take it on tiebreak then.
|Jun-04-06|| ||Raskolnikov: Nadezhda Kosintseva is still playing: what are the opinions of this game?|
|Jun-04-06|| ||Raskolnikov: I think Nadezhda is winning...|
|Jun-04-06|| ||percyblakeney: She won, silver to Russia regardless if Hou Yifan lost on time or not.|
|Jun-04-06|| ||Raskolnikov: Yes. Congratulations for winning the silver medal!!!|
|Jun-04-06|| ||doremi: Ukraine Gold
Congratulations for all three teams!
The wrong official result for China has been corrected, BTW. Bronze for China is a very good result, they have been seeded #6, yaay!
|Jun-04-06|| ||doremi: Sad story of FIDE election on TWIC http://www.chesscenter.com/twic/twi...|
|Jun-04-06|| ||doremi: Final performance ratings at the Olympiad:
Zhao Xue 2617
Kosintseva Tatiana 2598
Hou Yifan 2596 (only 2 points less)
Stefanova Antoaneta 2563 (former FIDE Women World Champion)
All performances are strong (male) GMs !
|Jun-04-06|| ||weisyschwarz: Our USA teams did well. The men take home amedal, and the women's team did very well, not far from medalhood. I wish this could be magnified by our media, who see more importance in Paris Hilton.|
|Jun-04-06|| ||Ezzy: Congratulations to the Ukraine, proving that the womens team can emulate the mens team of 2 years ago and take GOLD!! Also the Ukraine has dethroned China who has won the last 4 womens chess Olympiads. Fantastic performance from them.|
It was noticable that the first 6 seeds filled the first 6 places(not in order).
There was one performance that stands out above anybody including the mens Olympiad, and that is by the extremely talented 12 year old Hou Yifan. Could she be the next Judit Polgar! I know that seems a lot to ask, but she seems to be well on the right path, and with so many years infront of her, who knows. All the best for the future to her.

<I wish this could be magnified by our media, who see more importance in Paris Hilton.>
Why does Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton hate each other so much? :)
|Jun-07-06|| ||percyblakeney: After many very impressive results lately, the Olympiad was a bit of a disappointment for Kosteniuk. She lost for the first time against Stefanova, in only 27 moves with white. She also lost against Zhukova for the first time, after missing an easy win and later dropping a piece and the game:|
N Zhukova vs Kosteniuk, 2006
Apart from this she also participated in what may have been the worst game for a long time between players on such a high level:
E Repkova vs Kosteniuk, 2006
Compared to Aeroflot Open, where Kosteniuk competed with players like Mamedyarov and finished with a plus score, even with Sargissian and Dreev, the way Kosteniuk played in the Olympiad against much weaker players were unexpected. Hopefully she'll soon play better chess again, and ELO wise she's still a bit over 2530 in spite of the Olympiad.
|Jun-07-06|| ||princeofdragons: <Chopin: Why does Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton hate each other so much? :)> Because Nicole made fun of Paris Hilton's sex video on Saturday Night Live without Paris' consent.|
