| Nov-09-24 | | Alan McGowan: Although it is stated that the game Stahlberg-Liebstein is not available, it is given in the tournament book. The game was adjourned after White's 52nd move. When the position was set up for the game's resumption, a Black pawn was placed on the wrong square. Nobody noticed, and the game continued, Liebstein resigning after White's 68th move. It was only when replaying the game that the error was discovered. According to the rules at the time, the game should have been played again from the correct position, but Liebstein renounced this right and resigned. |

When the players resumed the game, a pawn was placed on g7 instead of f7. So, after the error was discovered Liebstein, considering his position once again, decided not continue with the replay from the correct position. Therefore, he rsigned after 52. Rd7. Will you submit the game as such? At least CG would have all games from the event. |

<Will you submit the game as such?> Sorry I was not active on C.G. after you posted. (I see you have done it.) So the moves after 57 were bogus. I'll probably get the blame for that. They are still blaming me for the last time this happened in the von Feierfeil and Paul Lipke 1889 game, a wrong position set up after an adjournment; E von Feyerfeil vs Lasker, 1889 (kibitz #4) |
