The 9th European Women's Championship was a 157-player 11-round Swiss tournament held at the Novotel Plovdiv Hotel in Plovdiv, Bulgaria 21 April - 3 May 2008, with a rest day on 28 April and a day for playoffs on 3 May. It was organized by the Bulgarian Chess Federation, under the auspices of the European Chess Union. The first 14 players would qualify for the 2010 World Championship tournament.
