European Club Cup (Women) (2009)

The 14th European Club Cup for Women was a 7-round Swiss team tournament held at the Gorica Hotel in Ohrid, Macedonia, 4-10 October 2009, with the participation of 11 clubs from 9 countries, including defending champions Cercle d'Echecs Monte Carlo, which mustered Koneru, Kosteniuk, Cramling, Socko, and Skripchenko. Of the 51 players, 9 were GMs and 25 IMs. Each match was played over four boards, with 2 points for a team win and 1 point for a draw. Time control: 90 minutes for 40 moves, then 30 more minutes till the end of the game, with a 30-second increment per move from move one. First prize: 3,750 euros. Tournament director: Petar Gicarovski. Chief arbiter: Dirk de Ridder.

Russian Spartak Vidnoe (Kosintseva sisters, Stefanova, Lahno, Ovod) won with 12/14, ahead of Cercle d'Echecs Monte Carlo (2nd on tiebreak) and Samaia of Tbilisi, Georgia (Chiburdanidze, Javakhishvili, Lomineishvili, Khukhashvili, Melia), both with 9/14.
