Sep-05-12  Maatalkko: It's like the U.S. board 2 is a Super Smash Bros. character with a special move. Except instead of "Falcon Punch!" it's "Irina Krush!"

HeMateMe: Kat Lahno played a 157 move draw against T-Kos, and the Ukranians held Russia to a 2-2 tie. The T sister had all the winning chances, but couldn't get the full point.

That's LARGE, Kat!

Sep-06-12  waustad: Yildiz wins again to go to +7.
Sep-06-12  waustad: Austrian women went 2 1/2 - 1 1/2 vs the Czech team. They did a lot better than the men who got squished today 0-4, also by the Czechs.
Sep-06-12  weisyschwarz: Krush could have won again today...against Maria Muzychuk, but missed the move.

HeMateMe: Russia pounded India, 3-1. Wins by Guinna and Kosteniuk. No Humpy in this event? They could have used her in that match.

Yifan won a nice tactical ending against France's Skripchenko.

Sep-07-12  dumbgai: China losing to...Kazakhstan. Down an exchange+pawn on board 4 and equal positions on the others.
Sep-07-12  dumbgai: Well, China didn't lose but were held to a draw despite having a 300-Elo advantage on all four boards. Russia takes the lead by defeating Armenia.
Sep-07-12  virginmind: romania wins 3.5-0.5 against the netherlands and we have a chance to finish in top 10. good luck tomorrow against whoever it will be!
Sep-07-12  niemzo: Russia hasn't taken the lead. They remain in second place since they are tied with China and they have a worse tiebreak.
Sep-08-12  waustad: Take a look at the Turkish women's team. 2nd, 3rd and 4th boards are all picking up more than 20 rating points. here, going into the final round.

Sep-09-12  niemzo: A worthy victory after a fascianting tournament. They were a couple of hard moments but your team managed to come through. Congratulations!
Sep-09-12  joupajou: Congrats, Natalia! Wonderful olympics, great games.

I was just wondering, in game 7 vs Anna Ushenina, what was your "master plan" with move 29... Rc8?

Sorry if this has already been discussed, I'm way too lazy now to read all earlier kibitzing.

Once again: congrats! You're my hero!

Sep-09-12  virginmind: romania finally ranks 5th (initial seeding was 10)! bravo for all the components of our team!! and congratulations to russia - and <Natalia Pogonina> here - for taking the gold.
Sep-10-12  optimal play: Congratulations to Russia on winning the Gold. Also a consistent effort by Australia who came into the tournament seeded 50th and finished 50th! They were part of a large group on 12 points which included Greece who finished further up the ladder at 40th, and Slovenia who was seeded 16th.
Sep-10-12  Ladolcevita: Congratulations to Russian women team on winning the gold medal!

Well,if only China had not tied Kazakhstan 2-2 in the penultimate round, whom Russia had defeated 4-0 in the final round...but of course it is not a question of any single round,Russia did perform a trifle better on the whole.

Sep-11-12  parmetd: Congrats Natalia
Apr-04-17  ragtag: The country with the most freedom always wins but having hot women in the meantime doesn't hurt.
