Oct-17-13  DiscoJew: Can't seem to find live links to any games, anywhere on the web. I did find the German SchachBundesliga page, but my German is poor and I could make no headway.
Oct-18-13  hellopolgar: http://bundesliga.liveschach.net/
Oct-19-13  waustad: Fortunately the site given by <helopolgar> also can be used to find out the schedule. They next play November 23.

offramp: What is the point of the Bundesliga?
Oct-22-13  Deadlost: <offramp: What is the point of the Bundesliga?>

To make a point, maybe?

Oct-22-13  Nina Myers: <offramp: What is the point of the Bundesliga?>

I think it's a huge marriage market like the http://www.4ncl.co.uk/

Nov-11-13  waustad: <offramp>Sponsors use it to advertise their product. People relate chess with intelligence so it is a natural for many businesses to want to be associated with it.
Nov-22-13  waustad: The next rounds are at 14:00 CET tomorrow. That's 10 AM EST unless I've botched it again. Here is the live link: http://bundesliga.liveschach.net/, which probably should be some sort of stickie.
Nov-23-13  waustad: I have botched it again since they are going now. They started at 8:00 AM EST. Tomorrow starts at 4:00 EST.

cro777: Svidler, Vachier-Lagrave, Bacrot, Naiditsch, Areshchenko, Harikrishna and Vallejo are playing in the next rounds.
Nov-23-13  waustad: Hockenheim beat Veirnheim 8-0. There are some real mismatches here. Baden-Baden has 16 players listed with elo over 2600 where the weakest teams have none.
Nov-24-13  waustad: Wouldn't you know that after such a drubbing, they play Baden Baden next. The board where ratings are closest is board 1 where the difference is 190 elo.
Nov-24-13  waustad: Ragger v Graf got out of book early, but it's hard to see what Graf got out of his opening other than being behind on time.
Nov-24-13  waustad: That turned into an interesting game in that Graf's strangely placed knight got traded to double pawns, in one of those cases where the toubled pawn leads to a semiopen file that puts pressure on the opponent's king. Result: a draw with black against a much higer rated opponent.
Nov-24-13  waustad: Next round Dec 14th.
Nov-24-13  waustad: Sorry, I mixed up leagues in a deleted post. The Austrian Bundesliga 1 plays Dec 6th at 16:00 CET. The German FBL plays Nov 30th at 14:00 CET. Naturally there are many levels of leagues all over Europe, but these are some I follow.
Nov-27-13  notyetagm: Bundesliga (2013)

Probably the best game in the league so far this season -> M Vachier-Lagrave vs A Volokitin, 2013.

Check It Out: Yes, that's a nice game.
Dec-01-13  waustad: I didn't realize how many teams OSG Baden Baden has. Of course they are favorites most years in the Bundesliga and the FBL, but they also have at least 2 more teams in 2. Bundesliga Süd and Oberliga Baden. Several of the players from the FBL have also played on one or another of these other teams. Information can be found poking around from here: http://www.schachbund.de/SchachBL/b...
Dec-03-13  lost in space: <<offramp:> What is the point of the Bundesliga?>

Who are you and if how many?

Dec-06-13  jphamlore: Is Aronian playing in the Bundesliga this season? As Aronian lives in Germany, he would seem a natural.

And will Karpov play a game or two? :-)
