Apr-19-14 | | Eduardo Leon: weight* |
Apr-19-14 | | Shams: I suppose I should have used a different example. It's funny, I was first going to say Russians, but upon quick reflection I realized the Russians aren't nearly as dominant as they used to be. But as has been pointed out, that's true of Jewish players too. In any case that just further goes to show that having separate chess pools based on ethnicity, gender or the like is ultimately silly, which is the point I unsuccessfully tried to make. I wouldn't ever criticize a woman for playing in a women's event, but I'd be happy to see those events go away. |
Apr-19-14 | | Kanatahodets: I think separate tournaments for women and men are justified and I support it. I also for example support same prize money in Grand tournaments in tennis. This may look unjust w.r.t. men. They play better and longer (5 sets instead of three). But I am for equality of men and women. Women chess are very entertaining and as someone pointed out there are examples when women beat men: Judith and Hou. |
Apr-19-14 | | Conrad93: Perfidious, Polgar is an extreme rarity. |
Apr-19-14 | | Shams: <Conrad> I haven't been able to check the chess news today. How many hundreds of players crossed the 2600 threshold? I'm excited to hear about the Class of April 19, 2014! Or you could wait til the end of the week, but then we're looking at thousands of names and that sounds like a lot of work. |
Apr-20-14 | | Eduardo Leon: <Shams: <Conrad> I haven't been able to check the chess news today. How many hundreds of players crossed the 2600 threshold? I'm excited to hear about the Class of April 19, 2014!> Heh, there is no need to be so harsh on the guy just because he is an idiot. :-P |
Apr-20-14 | | virginmind: Kosintseva lost again, to Girya. This has to be her worst tournament since quite some while. |
Apr-20-14 | | Conrad93: Eduardo, aren't you the idiot? |
Apr-20-14 | | Caissanist: According to http://www.jinfo.org/Chess_Players...., Aronian and Radjabov had Jewish fathers. The same page also lists Svidler as Jewish, although that is apparently only because Svidler is a Jewish name. |
Apr-20-14 | | Eduardo Leon: <Conrad93: Eduardo, aren't you the idiot?> I am not the one who confused the total number of 2600+ rated players with the number of players that become 2600+s every single day. :-P In any case, as I said, I do not believe in being harsh on idiots, so this discussion ends here. |
Apr-20-14 | | N0B0DY: You are the idiot by any definition, <Conrad93>. Period |
Apr-20-14 | | Conrad93: Eduardo, can you prove me wrong? |
Apr-20-14 | | Conrad93: Nobody and Eduardo, you both have a brain the size of a peanut. |
Apr-20-14 | | Conrad93: I'm putting both of you idiots on ignore. |
Apr-21-14 | | HowDoesTheHorsieMove: <Kanatahodets: I think separate tournaments for women and men are justified and I support it.> Separate tournaments for men would be an abomination. I'm not aware that there are any such, but if there are they should have their rules changed immediately. Separate tournaments for women are fine, though. |
Apr-21-14 | | I Like Fish: the more things change ....
the more they are insane... |
Apr-21-14 | | Conrad93: I don't think there is any controversy.
Men are better players than women, so they have a separate tournament. |
Apr-21-14
 | | HeMateMe: We already have separate tournaments for men. There's one going on right now, with Carlsen and Nakamura playing. I can't play in those. However, I am invited to play in the 6 round swiss at the Radisson hotel, conference room 3-b, if I put up the $40 entry fee. |

Apr-21-14 | | waustad: The only down side of using the ignore feature is that there are a lot of puzzling responses to something I haven't read. I guess they should go into the category of, "don't feed the troll." |
Apr-21-14 | | zakkzheng: Congratulations to Yifan Hou! I like her beautiful tactics and attacking chess style. |
Apr-22-14
 | | HeMateMe: Lahno is playing a little below form. I wonder if the situation in Ukraine is a big distraction to her chess game? It has to be close to every Ukrainian's mind. |
Apr-22-14 | | Conrad93: Polgar is the only women chess player to make it to the top 100. That's evidence enough that women are just simply not as good as men at chess. |
Apr-23-14 | | N0B0DY: So this is the intra-cerebral dose botox working for you? |
Apr-25-14
 | | HeMateMe: This goes out to Hou Yifan (the girl with the MOST cake!) <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AhWi...> |
