World Blitz Championship (Women) (2014)

The 2014 Women's World Blitz Championship was a double 15-round Swiss open (for players rated >2200) held in in the building of the Ugra Chess Academy in Khanty-Mansiysk, Russia, 26-28 April. There were 34 players, including defending champion Valentina Gunina. Time control: 3 minutes per player for all moves, with 2 seconds added per move from move 1. Prize fund: $50,000, with $12,000 to the winner. Chief arbiter: Mikhail Krjukov.

White (Khotenashvili) saw that Black was threatening the <PAWN FORK> ... ♘d4x♘f3+ ♗g2x♘f3 d5-d4 so she moved the White c3-knight away. However, Black also had a second threat that Khotenashvili completely overlooked.
