|Jun-25-15|| ||boz: Great post Edmontonchessclub!|
|Jun-25-15|| ||jith1207: <Edmontonchessclub> love your updates, keep it coming more. Thanks again.|
|Jun-25-15|| ||LucB: Goodness, what's going on with Mr. Harikrishna?|
|Jun-26-15|| ||PhilFeeley: Great games. Dale finally wins a wild one.|
|Jun-26-15|| ||diagonal: 2015 marks the <10th Edition> of the <Edmonton International Chess Festival>, held since 2006 annually without any break.|
In recent years the tournament is growing more and more and make this now classical event reasonably bigger and better in the mix of ages, gender and nations. In these days where chess is 'going formula one' (as a closed cycle exclusively / restricted for the same ten or nine plus wildcard top players), Edmonton launched a really new series:
A round robin (all-play-all) Invitation Chess Tournament in traditional style, where a mix of reputed international elite players met strong local players who could improve, having fun and making experiences on high level, sometimes catching an opportunity to obtain a (GM / IM) norm.
Congrats to your jubilee and thanks for your enthusiasm!

2011 GM Joel Benjamin (USA)

|Jun-26-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: Lots of photos from the tournament are here:
|Jun-26-15|| ||Penguincw: First game of the day done: the two Indians have signed the peace treaty in 36 moves and 2 hours.|
|Jun-27-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: For one day, this tournament which I organized was the strongest chess tournament in the world.|
Curse you, Dortmund! :)
|Jun-27-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: FM Pechenkin needs one more point for an IM norm, 4/9.|
|Jun-27-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: Thanks <Diagonal>|
|Jun-27-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: Alongside the International in round 7, an open Swiss tournament started tonight, in the same room.
My wife, who is 8-3/4 months pregnant with our first child, surprised me by joining the tournament! She's in the 1700s, and was paired up against a Master on board 1. She won a pawn, got a winning position and...didn't win. Lost, in fact. But I'm proud of her for getting such a good position.|
Oh, and GM Harikrishna's lead shrank a bit in the International.
By the way, our daughter will be named Vienna. She won't let me give her the middle name "Gambit", even though all my friends like it ;)
|Jun-27-15|| ||Harvestman: A daughter called Vienna eh? Future bride of Frankenstein-Dracula variation.|
My favourite opening system as white. Good choice.
|Jun-27-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: I'm in a taxi with the GMs again. Ivanchuk just pointed out the window and said "My opponent!". FM Haessel was jogging down the street about 3 miles to the chess club.|
|Jun-27-15|| ||HeMateMe: Have measures been taken to safeguard Chuckie's luggage?|
|Jun-27-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: <Hemateme>
|Jun-27-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: The Chief Arbiter just pointed out to me that there have been no Sicilians played in the whole tournament so far.|
|Jun-27-15|| ||HeMateMe: well, world cup is in Canada. Keep an eye on things...|
|Jun-28-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: <Hemateme> Basically, Chucky takes care of Chucky. I'll help if he asks, but he doesn't really appreciate offers of help. He waits until hr really needs something, then asks.|
|Jun-28-15|| ||Edmontonchessclub: <Hemateme> Also, he's here with his wife. So maybe Mrs. Chucky secures his luggage.|
|Jun-28-15|| ||HeMateMe: He was robbed in Brazil. Thugs swiped his luggage right out in front of a hotel. I figure it's too cold to run in Edmonton (hypothermia), so the players are probably safe. Carry on.|
|Jun-28-15|| ||siggemannen: all the favourites won today, no changes in the top|
|Jun-28-15|| ||PhilFeeley: <HeMateMe> Too cold in Edmonton? In June (soon July)?? Are you serious? Basic geography would tell you Edmonton would enjoy warm weather this time of year, sometimes even hitting 30C+.|
|Jun-28-15|| ||epistle: Wesley should have played here instead. So his mothers could have tea together.|
|Jun-28-15|| ||perfidious: With all the invocations of that person in recent weeks, one would think that on seeing the word 'mother', we have seen half the vocabulary of these stalkers, as was once said of baseball player Alex Johnson.|
|Jun-28-15|| ||kia0708: Thank you for the link.
