The match was between the "kings" (Gelfand, Leko, Morozevich, Najer) vs. "princes" (Antipov, Artemiev, Bukavshin and Oparin).

Each king faces each prince once in classical time controls, and twice in rapid time controls.

In classical, a win counted as 2 points, draw 1 point and loss nothing, while rapid was normal scoring.
