| Apr-27-17 | | Wavy: Before praising Giri here, we have to remember that the only highly rated player that he beat is Jobava, the ELO giver. Then he drew with the next 3 highest rated players that he played who are all rated 2600+. The only player at 2600+ that he beat is L'ami, who was rated at 2614. The rest are 2500 and below players. If this is another supertournament with 2700 players, Giri will be back to his normal self, the peacemaker. |

| Apr-28-17 | | Jambow: I will praise Giri his TPR was close to 2900, he won lots of games against GM's and acting like Jobava some how doesn't count is absurd. Now I have critisized him myself but that doesn't mean I shouldn't give him praise now he earned it. Recently some 2800+ players lost to 2600 players. No this is a stellar performance... Go Giri!!! |

Giri did a fine job here, emphasizing the difference between the elite players and masses of GMs. But it is also clear that this result doesn't lead to the conclusion that Giri will play more risky and aggressively when he returns to tournaments with the elite players. A clear edge to those below, but nothing new in relation to his colleagues at the top. |
