Kibitzer's Corner
Apr-26-17  braimondi: Giri with 6 wins and only 3 draws!! Is this real life?
Apr-26-17  PhilFeeley: Indeed! Giri haters who consider him the new drawmaster can go sulk in a corner.

Any GM norms here? Particularly Hambleton?

Apr-26-17  Bruce Graham: <brainmondi> A tournament with Giri and without draw related comments can't be real life.
Apr-26-17  PhilFeeley: Chessgames says Giri won, but chess-results.com says there's still a round 10. Who's right?
Apr-26-17  PhilFeeley: Canadians doing well there. Good to see.
Apr-27-17  PhilFeeley: Hambleton beat Shirov, L'Ami (2015 winner) and Ramirez. That's got to be worth a GM norm, surely.
Apr-27-17  Boomie: ->

Those 3 draws are so typical of Giri.

Troller: This tournament is 10 rounds. Giri has white against L'Ami in last round.
Apr-27-17  Bruce Graham: Thanks <Boomie> for proving my point.
Apr-27-17  PhilFeeley: And Giri wins in the last round. Good chess all.
Apr-27-17  tuttifrutty: It's about time Giri win something....thanks to Wesley for not being in this tourney.
Apr-27-17  jaccas: Reykjavik Open is for outside the Top 10 !
Apr-27-17  Wavy: Before praising Giri here, we have to remember that the only highly rated player that he beat is Jobava, the ELO giver. Then he drew with the next 3 highest rated players that he played who are all rated 2600+. The only player at 2600+ that he beat is L'ami, who was rated at 2614. The rest are 2500 and below players.

If this is another supertournament with 2700 players, Giri will be back to his normal self, the peacemaker.

Apr-28-17  Jambow: I will praise Giri his TPR was close to 2900, he won lots of games against GM's and acting like Jobava some how doesn't count is absurd. Now I have critisized him myself but that doesn't mean I shouldn't give him praise now he earned it. Recently some 2800+ players lost to 2600 players. No this is a stellar performance...

Go Giri!!!

Apr-28-17  scholes: No Giri plays very aggressive against lower rated players. He probably lack some self belief in top tournament. Keeps spurning winning positions.
Apr-29-17  Sokrates: I can agree with both <Wavy> and <Jambow>. Giri did a fine job here, emphasizing the difference between the elite players and masses of GMs. But it is also clear that this result doesn't lead to the conclusion that Giri will play more risky and aggressively when he returns to tournaments with the elite players. A clear edge to those below, but nothing new in relation to his colleagues at the top.
May-01-17  The Boomerang: "'s about time Giri win something....thanks to Wesley for not being in this tourney"

Yeah thank God that fat head wasnt there.

May-01-17  The Boomerang: Well done Anish!!
May-01-17  Sokrates: <The Boomerang: ... Yeah thank God that fat head wasnt there.> I am not religious at all, but do you think your god would appreciate this highly degrading diffamation of the Christian player So?
May-02-17  Keyser Soze: Wow Anish really did took his minerals..Rp of 2865. Good stuff
