I beg to differ; <CHC> deliberately spells 'kibitzers' wrong. I would not call that diplomatic at all. Furthermore he sneers at <BP>, while sneering wasn't necessary to strengthen their case. At all. I know... you admit you were wrong and totally concur with me ;) |
|
Jul-19-18
 | | Dionysius1: Hi <CHC>. I see what you mean - a remark in a post mostly about chess stimulates a whole argument which dominates for a while. But you'd want the thread to be self regulating - people getting back into the chess. And in practice that seems to happen. Just annoying when it takes a while - what chess fan wants to have to sift through the off topics or even worse find themselves tempted by the distractions?
Can't find a defence for the agents provocateurs. Pains in the ass. |
|
Jul-19-18 | | WorstPlayerEver: <Dionysius1>
I think you are overreacting; I'm pretty sure you are not married to Caissa. I know - putting people on ignore here is hard work. Now, get your lazy butt off the couch! |

 | | HeMateMe: VK just owns this tournament. |
|
Jul-19-18 | | ChessHigherCat: <HeMateMe: VK just owns this tournament.>
You mean he's just one of four co-owners, with two players just half a point behind them. Don't you think Nepo's games are much more interesting than Kramnik's? Kramnik seems to just grind it out, although I admit he had some brilliant games years ago. |
|
Jul-19-18
 | | HeMateMe: has Nepo won this event 8 times?
but yes, I love Nepo's style. Kramnik is a Carlsen type player--build up small advantages and strangle your opponent. Nepo goes for the home run. He sometimes whiffs at bat, too... |
|
Jul-20-18 | | stst: <VK just owns this tournament.> own, not owns...
Two VK's there!!
My dark horse, the younger VK, and non-Russian, keeps running.... It will be quite a break-through if this VK got it all, relatively small country, dream is BIG !! |

Jul-20-18 | | DerDiemer: Performance Ratings after Round 4
Kovalev: 2821 (+166)
Duda: 2808 (+71)
Nepomniachtchi: 2806 (+49)
Kramnik: 2788 (-4)
Meier: 2741 (+113)
Giri: 2678 (-104)
Wojtaszek: 2642 (-91)
Nisipeanu: 2445 (-227) |
|
Jul-20-18 | | jphamlore: This seems promising for Nepomniachtchi after a non-Berlin Ruy Lopez by Kramnik as Black. |
|
Jul-21-18
 | | PawnSac: Round 7:
Nepomniachtchi - Meier
Giri - Duda
Kovalev - Kramnik
Nisipeanu - Wojtaszek
still a close call here. anything can happen |

Jul-21-18
 | | PawnSac: < JimNorCal: A pleasure to see Vlad playing with such determination in the last couple of tournaments. He doesn't always win but the level of effort is excellent. > yea he's having a difficult tourney this time, but I'm more impressed with Georg Meier.. he's performing very well in a pack where he is lowest rated. Only Kovalev is close to him. |
|
Jul-21-18 | | JAMESROOK: OK folks Yr reporter on the ground watched some very good chess today in Dortmund. Live commentary seemed to suggest Kramnik was going to win. He had real pressure against Giri...... But to no avail. I, personally, would have killed myself, if I had been Kramnik or perhaps Giri. But then Im just an amateur..... |
|
Jul-21-18 | | JAMESROOK: PawnSac..... U r right. Meier is a very good player. |
|
Jul-21-18 | | JAMESROOK: Is Meier German and no 1? Yet |
|
Jul-21-18 | | JAMESROOK: Kramnik has won this many times. He's a very aggressive player. Nepo is good but Kramnik is in a different class and with that and another brandy..... I wish u all a very happy Chess day |
|
Jul-21-18 | | JAMESROOK: Is Meier German and no 1?7 |
|
Jul-22-18 | | Sokrates: <JAMESROOK: Is Meier German and no 1?7> This is the FIDE-ranking of the German top 4. Only Nisipeanu is in the international top 100 (no. 89 in Live Rating). As it appears, Gustafsson, Bluebaum and Meier are pretty much equal. 1 Nisipeanu, Liviu-Dieter 2672
2 Gustafsson, Jan 2641
3 Bluebaum, Matthias 2637
4 Meier, Georg 2628 |
|
Jul-22-18 | | jphamlore: Just waiting for Vincent Keymer to be ready to play in events such as this one. |
|
Jul-22-18 | | JAMESROOK: Thank you Socrates for the German info.
Sorry everybody. Your special correspondent at Dortmund.....made a mistake
😢
I mixed up 2 names. Nepomniachtchi (Nepo) and Nisipeanu in one of my posts. Nepo is very strong. Nisipeanu is just having a very bad tournament.
Sorry once more. |

 | | Dionysius1: Hi <WorstPlayerEver> What a weird post. What's "married to Caissa" about? How can I tell which posters to ignore and when? It's not as useful a facility as it sounds. What makes you think I'm sitting on a couch? If you mean I should stop posting here and do something more useful, that's weird too, given we're chess fans. Were you plastered? :-) |

Jul-22-18 | | tuttifrutty: What is this...some hot chicken wings backyard barbeque challenge??? |

Jul-22-18 | | WorstPlayerEver: <Dionysius1>
Of course. But it was not all about you. It's because chess is underrated. In general. What I meant were personal grudges expressed in this thread under the cloak of being happy together here. Quote: <(with the exception of the well-known agent provocateur)> I kind of agree with <CHC>, there should be room for other things than chess here. But their statement does not exactly express a community spirit. I stand corrected. Because they were addressing <BP>, while pretending to make a general statement regarded to this forum. Non decorum est. All good and well, it's called manipulation. It's a matter of intention. We're all biased. No need to address the bias of a certain member here. A matter of tolerancy. Regarded to my ignore buttion: when a poster leaves the platoon, I have to take measures. Because you don't HAVE to read those posts. Like I said.. it's hard work. I'd rather put people on ignore than getting distracted all the time. I don't want to see the endless spam. That said, I myself was looking for distraction at the time. So yes, I actually had no right to speak. Strictly spoken. However, I was irritated. Because 'I WAS POSTING A BIT TOO MUCH' regarded to a live game thread. While it's the other way around! 'MAYBE THE COMMUNITY WAS POSTING TOO LITTLE'! That annoys me, it takes a lot of effort and attention from me to get everything right during a live game here. While it should be a pleasure to do so; chess is game. In contrast, life is not a game, but we, yes we, seem to be trapped by our own desires. On our way to turn it to one BIG GAME! Take a look at this: https://medium.com/@nikolauscorrell... The worshipping of Laziness. Wot a life! All these ugly things around us. Do we really need them!? Gamers For Life. That will be our destiny going on like this. Buncha dodos in The Virtual World. |
|
Jul-22-18 | | stst: <Nisipeanu, Liviu-Dieter 2672 > Is Nispeanu born German? or representing Germany... Got an impression he was representing Romania or some other country in the European Championship... may be two~three years ago... |
