Russian Championship Higher League Tomsk (2004)

Played in Tomsk, Russia, 23-31 May 2004, as one of two qualification events for the new round-robin "Superfinal" of the 57th Russian Championship. The two events were combined next year into a single "Higher League" qualification tournament. Prize fund: $50,000. Chief organizer: Boris Shaidullin. Chief arbiter: Alexander Khasin. The top three finishers would advance to the Superfinal.

Alexander Motylev won with 6.5/9, and went together with Timofeev (2nd on tiebreak) and Korotylev (3rd) to the Russian Championship Superfinal (2004).
