Kibitzer's Corner
Jan-06-20  fabelhaft: After 18 rounds Firouzja was in third place only 1.5 behind Carlsen and on the way to medal again, when he messed up a winning position against Carlsen and even lost in the end after the famous incident with the dropped piece.

After that he maybe lost some concentration and only got 0.5/3 in the last rounds, and the third medal behind Carlsen and Nakamura, who were in a class of their own in the final standings, suprisingly went to the ”retired” Kramnik.

Jan-06-20  fabelhaft: Karjakin finished 41st and won against Kramnik but in his remaining 9 games against players ranked top 63 he scored 2 draws and 7 losses.

Tabanus: You just wait till there's an intro and edited standings table. For example Grischuk had 14 points according to http://chess-results.com/tnr499129.....

Then it'll be even better ;)

Tabanus: Fedoseev and Matlakov should have 13.5. Anyone keen to make an effort to check and fix this?

Or should I hack the standings table ;)

Annie K.: <Tab> as I recall there were a bunch of stubs (0 move games) rejected from this event. You are welcome to edit the standings, and an intro would be great too. ;)

Tabanus: Coming up! :) It will take some days though, it's quite time-consuming.
Jan-08-20  tonsillolith: Holy crap, Kramnik finished third in this blitz event saturated with youngsters, even after spending some time congealing in retirement? My respect for him only grows.
Jan-10-20  mycroft2120: This is a fabulous result for Naka. I feel sorry for him that despite his best effort (take away that slip against Firouzja and he might have won the whole thing), Carlsen still gets the trophy.

chancho: Naka can't catch a break against Carlsen it seems. He'll either:get squashed in a tournament Carlsen is playing in, or: Caissa steps in and sticks the shank on Naka when he least can afford it. Star-Crossed.
