FORCING MOVES (checks, captures, threats) give you =additional= control over square (Na++, Nd++) since the opponent needs to meet the threat created by the <FORCING MOVE> and thus cannot also meet the threat to the other squares gained control over in the process of making the <FORCING MOVE>.
