yy underpromotion = N

<Sometimes, less is more! <<>>>

The problemist in me loves to see underpromotions in real games.

Underpromotions are one of the really interesting variations/irregularities in the game of chess.

I observed two different main topics/themes:

<- A winning underpromotion with check or

<- an underpromotion to prevent a winning N-fork. DEFENCE

<* There are also some ♖:♙ endgames, where the ♙ side has to underpromote to avoid the mate.

<* And there are some 'spite check' underpromos, that don't change anything....

<* as well as <Opening Traps>>>>>>
