Smyslov at the Moscow-Budapest 1949 Match
Compiled by jessicafischerqueen
--*--

These are all the Vasily Smyslov games from the two part Moscow-Budapest match. It was a Scheveningen system event. The eight Moscow players faced each of their eight Budapest opponents for one game in Budapest, then the venue switched to Moscow where they repeated the routine with the colors reversed.

The Budapest leg was played 5-17 March, and Moscow won 36 - 28. Playing second board for Moscow, Smyslov scored +2 -1 =5.

The Moscow leg was played 2-15 April, and Moscow won 48.5 - 15.5. It seems Smyslov appreciated the return home, since he racked up a clean score of +8 -0 =0!

His total score for the event was +10 -1 =5.
