Whippin' Up Fredthebear's French Dressing
Compiled by fredthebear
--*--

Southern U.S. Style w/some bite!

Ingredients:

1 teaspoon paprika
1 cup white sugar
2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon mustard powder
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon prepared horseradish
1 medium onion, grated
1 (10.75 ounce) can condensed tomato soup
1 cup cider vinegar
1 cup vegetable oil
1 clove garlic, peeled

In a medium bowl, stir together the paprika, sugar, salt, mustard powder, pepper, Worcestershire sauce, horseradish, onion, tomato soup, cider vinegar and vegetable oil. Beat with an electric mixer. Do not use a blender. Pour into a jar. Skewer the garlic clove on a toothpick, and place into the jar. Refrigerate until needed.

Per Serving: 64 calories; 4.7 g fat; 5.4 g carbohydrates; 0.2 g protein; 0 mg cholesterol; 136 mg sodium.

Recipe Variations:

- Used Ketsup instead of tomato soup, and left out the horseradish. Used it for Taco Salad. Delicious! - Used only 3.5 Tb of sugar; 1 Tb (not one ts) prepared horseradish; 2 ts onion powder instead of fresh onion; garlic-flavored red wine vinegar instead of cider vinegar; only 1/4 cup oil. - This is delicious and soooo easy! I toss all ingredients in a screw top jar, just shake to mix. None of that bowl and mixer business. My hubbie requests this by saying 'I'd like to eat more salad'. I cut WAY back on the sugar (3.5 Tblsp) and onion (4-5 Tblsp), and reduced the oil to 1/4C. Didn't have horseradish, so I used cayenne (to taste), and I really like garlic, so I used 1.5 teaspoon of minced. And LOTS of fresh ground pepper. I think I could probably use even less oil to make it healthier. Thanks a lot for the recipe, it is a winner at our house! - Eat less, exercise more, play more chess after completing chores and homework!
