Morphy at the Chess Congress
Compiled by Ziryab
--*--

I take many of my students through Paul Morphy's eighteen tournament games. His only tournament was the 1st American Chess Congress, New York 1857.

These games are not all of equal quality, but they show his growth through the course of several weeks. The Congress was the first time Morphy was tested by playing relatively strong opponents.
