- Magnus Carlsen Plays the Alekhine
Despite having a losing score in major competition with the Alekhine's Defense, this should not dissuade anyone from looking at these highly instructive games. Remember that most of Carlsen's losses in this opening have come from blitz and blindfold games; whereas in classical time controls, he has a plus score - including one terrific game versus Topalov. If you would like to learn more about how to incorporate Alekhine's Defense successfully into your repertoire, I would recommend you get Andrew Martin's Chessbase DVD "ABC of Alekhine's" Also a couple of primers on the opening should help you become a terrific Alekhine's player. Enjoy!
